Menomune Meningococcal Vaccine Ingredients

Menomune is the Tradename for the meningitis vaccine manufactured by Connaught Laboratories. Menomune Meningococcal vaccine ingredients include freeze-dried polysaccharide antigens from Neisseria meningitidis bacteria, the chemical Thimerasol, and the animal by product lactose. Meningococcal is the bacteria responsible for the illness we call Menigitis and it's debilitating potential ofpolysaccharide antigens from Neisseria meningitidis bacteria is the active ingredient of the Menomune vaccine. This is one of a family of bacteria that can cause Menegitis

Thimerasol is the preservative in the vaccine and perhaps the most toxic ingredient used in vaccines, containing up to 50% mercury which is a neurotoxin and comes in second only to plutonium as being the most toxic element known to man. Thimerasol is a preservative used to prevent bacterial or fungal growth in the vaccine itself. Due to its dangers and side effects Russia banned the use of Thimerosal in their children's vaccines back in 1980, while the United States continued to use it, to the possible detriment of our children's health. Recently there has been a call or push to remove mercury from vaccines, however it has not been removed from all vaccines, and most of those from which it has been removed it is still used in production. After the production it is then filtered out, but much of the mercury remains in the vaccine attached to proteins and other particles to which it can adhere.

Lactose can be a complication if the individual has dairy allergies or otherwise known as lactose intolerance. Sometimes, especially with infants, lactose intolerance may not be known. Children living in moldy conditions or who have had multiple vaccines, especially those with chemical sensitizers in them may develop lactose intolerance.

Side effects of the Menomune include pain and redness at the injection site as the most common side effects. Less common but potentially life threatening are some cases of nephropathy, (Kidney failure), as a potential side effect.
