Menopause Home Remedies

Menopause is a transitional period in a woman's bodily cycle, which signals the end of fertility. Hormonal changes, bone loss, skin inconsistency, and mental changes can affect a woman immensely during this time. Some women may seek HRT, or Hormone Replacement Therapy. Recently, however, HRT has come under fire and associated with contributing to other health concerns in women. Many women would prefer to use natural remedies at home to treat the symptoms of menopause, therefor keeping it a more private matter. Menopause is a life process, and should be dealt with accordingly. Changes in lifestyle, such as avoiding smoking and drinking in excess can contribute to a better feeling of overall health. Especially since both are known to contribute to bodily changes which increase hot flashes and aid osteoporosis.

Moisturize your body naturally as much as possible, because estrogen levels will drop during Menopause causing severe dryness. Drinking lots of water to rehydrate the body each day can help the skin to feel supple and comfortable all over. Fruit and vegetable juices are also highly recommended for their antioxidant qualities. Some good examples of juices to drink during menopause are orange juice, carrot juice, beet juice, concord grape juice, blueberry juice, cranberry juice, and apple juice. They contain lots of vitamin C, have anti-inflammatory properties, polyphenols (a strong antioxidant), magnesium, and vitamin D. Vitamins C and D work together to help the body absorb calcium, which affects metabolism. Drinking juices rich in these vitamins will help regulate weight, prevent bone loss, and make up for deficiencies caused by the change in hormone levels. Consuming milk, cheese, beans, and peas will also help your calcium levels. In addition, a multivitamin can be taken as well magnesium, vitamin C, and vitamin D supplements. Flaxseed oil, olive oil, and vitamin E supplements can help to rehydrate the body so that your skin isn't dried out.

Changes in estrogen levels are the cause of most symptoms of Menopause. Luckily, there are tons of foods which contain natural estrogen for consumption. Soy products are packed with estrogen, and products which include soy are readily available. There are soy milks, yogurts, health drinks, even chocolates. Linseed, sunflower, and different types of liquorices have enough estrogen to aid in curbing Menopausal symptoms. Other estrogen rich foods include garlic, alfalfa, beans, beets, cabbage, pumpkin, and papaya. Some women use diet to replace the lost estrogen, thus restoring their body back to health. This may cause the skin to become more hydrated, less hot flashes occur, and experiencing fatigue to a lesser extent.
