Men's NCAA Basketball Tournament - Final Four 2010 Teams

Why the Duke Basketball Team Will Cut the Net

Ranee Wright
College Basketball is such a thrilling sport to watch. With one game remaining in the NCAA basketball tournament before the national championship game, the Final Four 2010 teams all have one thing in mind: what it will take to win. Michigan State and Butler will compete on Saturday for a chance to meet Duke or West Virginia at the final game of the season.

Michigan State and Duke are my picks for the national championship game

Great college basketball programs, Tom Izzo (Michigan State) and Mike Krzyzewski (Duke) are basketball coaches that have taken their teams to the NCAA Final Four many times in the past. These two teams are my picks for the 2010 final tournament game just because I am a fan. Coach Bob Huggins was once a WVU player and he has taken West Virginia to their first Final Four since 1959. Butler's coach Brad Stevens has brought the Cinderella's to the Final Four for the first time in the college basketball program's history! The national championship game is in Indianapolis, which is also where Butler is located.

Statistics of the Final Four 2010 teams in the NCAA basketball tournament

Duke basketball has won 11 national championships games under Coach K but they have not been in the Final Four since 2004. In the past 12 seasons, Izzo has taken every four year player to a Final Four. That is 6 appearances in 12 years.

Overall NCAA basketball tournament records: #1 Duke Blue Devils (29-5) #5 Michigan State Spartans (28-8) #2 West Virginia Mountaineers (31-6) #5 Butler Bulldogs (32-4)

Keys to winning the national championship game

Blue Devils have three players that average 17 points a game: Kyle Singler (forward), Jon Scheyer (guard) and Nolan Smith (guard). That's an average of 51 points per game. This elite college basketball team and under Coach K, Duke Basketball may win their twelfth national championship game.

Spartans have the highest rebounding margin for the season. Durrell Summers (guard) is averaging 20 points and Korie Lucious (point guard) averages 15 points a game in the tournament. This is another elite college basketball team that is led by a coach that knows how to take his team all the way.

West Virginia needs to make clean plans and watch their fouls. Duke is known for drawing fouls and had the Kentucky game gone into overtime, WVU may have lost due to foul trouble. Freshman DeMarcus Cousins is a big (excuse the pun) factor down low for West Virginia. Mazzulla, a new point guard starter, is fun to watch. I must point out that if West Virginia and Butler meet the sportscasters' better call Da'Sean Butler (guard) by his first name or things could get confusing! Butler was a major scorer and motivator against Kentucky.

Butler has a huge forward Matt Howard to defend but he needs to watch his fouls. The Bulldogs will be a force to contend with if they shoot 3-pointers well. Based solely on overall records of the Final Four 2010 teams, Butler will win.

I have to admit that even though I love playing basketball, I really don't like watching college basketball at all on tv. I will be one of the few people in the US who is not tuning in to these games!! ;-)

None of 'my teams' are in it, but should be exciting.
