Men's Top Summer Sandals for 2010

Brand Names Men Love!

It took forever to convince my husband that wearing sandals could be a good idea. Now this toe-conscious man is constantly asking for them and panicking if they're not under the bed. Yes, under the bed. We rarely keep things where they belong. I've decided the best way to keep the "where the devil are my sandals!" panic mode at bay is to purchase a few different pairs. Then we can lose all of them. We agreed on several top choices for men's sandals this summer.

An article was published several months ago detailing the trouble facing the Crocs company. It seems their clogs and sandals are too durable, and therefore consumers are purchasing them and holding on to them for years. How is a company to remedy this situation? Two words: newer styles. While clogs may not technically be considered sandals, Crocs has gone out of their way to make them seem so. The Yukon Clog is a study, breathable shoe that is stylish enough to be worn with shorts, denim, or casual slacks. This style features a leather upper, adjustable back strap, and ventilation slots and non-skid soles. It comes in both chocolate and khaki colors. True to the brand name, this clog provides classic comfort at $49.95.

Forever a popular brand with men, Teva is as basic at it comes. This sandal sticks with the traditional look while incorporating a patented "Universal Strapping System" which safely secures the foot for outside sporting activities. The Hurricane 3 offers anti-microbial protection, a padded heel strap, and means of adjustment for a perfect fit. The design is minimalist, yet super effective. The Teva Hurricane 3 runs around $39.99.

If more foot coverage is the name of the game, go for Keen. These sandals are all the rage, enclosing the foot while offering plenty of ventilation and styles that are reminiscent of hiking shoes. The Newport sandal offers ample toe protection and an athletic shoe fit. These sandals are quick to lace, quick to dry, and are shock-absorbent, perfect for hours of hiking and splashing through water. Available in a large variety of colors and styles, these sandals are the cream of the crop and worth every bit of the $60.00 to $95.00 you'll pay for them.

More a flip-flop man? Try Columbia. This brand is loved because the top straps do not chafe, the sole is molded, and it offers superb traction and support. You won't walk off the sides of these babies. You can purchase Columbia flip flops for about $35.00.

Of course, you can't forget the Birkenstocks. The ultimate in casual wear, even businessmen have been known to throw on a pair with their suits when leaving the office. Birkenstocks features two thick leather straps across the tops of the feet, a deep heel cup, and ample room for the toes. The soles are stain-resistant. With wear, this sandal will become a second skin, molding perfectly to your feet. How much does pure comfort cost? You can purchase the classic Arizona style for $119.95.

These sandals are available at any sporting store, or online. No matter the choice, make sure the fit is right, that the sandal doesn't rub, and that it suits your purpose. With all the new styles available, self-expression is a given. Check the sites below for more information.
