Mental Health Centers for Teenagers in North and South Carolina

Recently my teenage daughter went through a brief period of depression brought on by an episode that happened in her life rather unexpectedly. If you are a parent, then you know that sitting idly by, watching your child suffer is as excruciating to you as it is to them. You have no idea what to do or say to help them so sometimes we are forced to seek out the help of a professional, which is something I went through recently. When I started the search for a psychologist for my child, I wanted someone she could trust, and someone I could depend on to help her with the problems she was going through in her life. The place I began was the Spartanburg Area Mental Health Center. They have wonderful counselors who become actively involved in the life of your child. They want to help and you can see that by their behavior towards you and your family. The counselor we were given was wonderful with my daughter, helping her through a difficult time in her life. He always knew just the right thing to say to bring her out of the blues she was experiencing. The mental health center also has counselors who are experienced in helping children who suffer from drug and alcohol addiction as well as various mental disabilities. They have classes where your child can interact with others who suffer from some of the same problems. They are also fully licensed and accredited to write prescriptions for medications when needed.

A teenager who's at risk needs the help of their family. You must intervene on their behalf because they are not going to seek the help they need to pull them through this period in their young life. The counselors at The Watershed in Florida know this and often encourage parents and family member to stand up and take notice of their teens behavior. They also encourage active involvement of all family members in the recovery process of teens. Their facilities are located in an upscale Palm Beach location which specializes in the mental, medication and psychotherapy treatment of recovering teens. They base their treatment program on the 12 steps used by AA and NA. They blend continuous, structured care with a tough support system. And as you advance in your treatment you'll be given more responsibility and be expected to help others who are going through the same struggles you've just came through, it's a rewarding experience that can greatly benefit your child. The care at The Watershed is often covered by insurance, but even if you don't have insurance you still may be eligible for help. They also have a 24 hour a day helpline 1-800-861-1768. The Carolina Center for Behavioral Health is located in Greer S.C. and serves areas throughout Upstate South Carolina. They specialize in psychiatric problems as well as chemical dependencies in adults and children. They feature an array of inpatient treatment programs as well as partial hospitalization treatment and an integrated treatment approach. Treatment can range from a few days to a few weeks depending on your personal history. They also are focused on the pain and pain management often associated with chemical dependencies. Their safe, confidential, family oriented environment makes this the perfect treatment center for your teen. Treatment is often covered by Medicare and insurance and even Medicaid if your child is between the ages of 12-21.

Three Rivers Center for Behavioral Health features a variety of treatment programs for teens and adults. Inpatient residential programs are available as well as outpatient treatment programs. They also have their Food For Thought classes which take place every 2nd Wednesday of the month during the months of January through October. These classes are a wonderful way to obtain valuable information and earn continuing education credits. If you suspect your teen is in trouble don't hesitate in getting them the help they need. There are several organizations in your area that want to help your child who may be going through bouts of depression or chemical, even alcohol dependency.
