Mental Illness in Western North Carolina: Finding the Right Resources

Stacy J. Day
Mental illness, which is one or more of the many disorders that can affect the way a person thinks, feels, behaves and deals with life. Not all mental disorders require hospitalization, and only people who are a danger to themselves or to others must be put into inpatient hospital units until they have been stabilized. Most people, however, need assistance with milder forms of various mental illnesses. Unfortunately, many people aren't aware of the resources available in their communities and may suffer needlessly for longer than they have to. If you or someone you care about suffers from some type of mental illness and live in the western North Carolina area, specifically Catawba, Caldwell or Burke counties, this guide can direct you in the right direction for obtaining the necessary help.
