Mentos and Coke - Who Can Compete?
Crazy Experiment Videos Draw Almost a Million Hits on the Internet
Iraq War, Baby Jolie-Pitt ... step aside!!! It's Mentos and Coke to the forefront of the news!
This story had a 4239% one-day jump in hits on the Yahoo Buzz Index as nearly a million people checked out the chemical reaction between the candy Mentos and Coke (or more specifically, Diet Coke, which seems to react better than its "leaded" counterpart).
The reaction IS quite spectacular, and there are dozens of different videos (actually, a study by Mentos says there are 800!!!) of varying sizes of experiments now available on the Internet.
While Coke is not impressed, the Mentos company is thrilled with the latest craze, which they say has a value of "over $10 million" - half of their annual US marketing budget.
The "ultimate" experiment involved using 101 two-liter bottles of Diet Coke and 523 Mentos to create a dancing fountain like the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas. It might make more sense to just go to the Eepybird.com website which is hosting this video to your computer first, instead of trying to watch it on the Internet.
