Mercedes-Benz Expects High Growth in 2009

Mercedes-Benz expects high growth during the fiscal 2009 despite of the slowdown. On account the Director Corporate Affairs Mercedes-Benz India, Suhas Kadlaskar, said, "We are optimistic that growth will continue, though it will not be 46% as during the previous year."

The luxury car manufacturer sold around 3625 units in 2008 in the Indian car market registering a 14% growth during February 2008 to February 2009. Further to this Mercedes hopes to retain its dominance in the luxury car segment. The company reported a 20-25% growth in Kerala.

To beat recession and meet the desires car sales target, Mercedes-Benz has introduced several innovative strategies and schemes. New finance schemes have also been introduced in association with certain banks.

Mercedes-Benz further takes a move to woo buyers form smaller cities as the company has registered a 20% sales volume from these cities. To strengthen their presence in these cities and push sales, the company is also planning to open dealerships in Vishakapatnam and Vijaywada in Andhra Pradesh.
