Christian Pop Group MercyMe Tour Bus in Accident While Visiting Fort Wayne, Indiana

A MercyMe accident is making headlines. The MercyMe accident, as it is being called, occurred after a Parkview Field concert early on Saturday morning. The MercyMe accident happened when a tour bus carrying the Christian rock band MercyMe was traveling in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The MercyMe accident took place when the MercyMe tour bus collided with another car in an intersection. Through early news reports, it seems that the MercyMe bus was traveling under a green light, and had a car turn in front of them, which the MercyMe bus collided with. The MercyMe accident took place at the intersection of Lima Road and Coliseum Boulevard early in the hours of Saturday, August 8th.

The MercyMe accident has left two dead so far, as both of the cars passengers were killed. The victims of the MercyMe accident were a man and a woman, with a female driver also injured critically in the accident. The identities of the victims were not released at the time of the MercyMe accident, and an investigation is pending to figure out exactly what took place during the accident. The Christian band MercyMe had just finished up a late night concert that took place at Parkview Field, and the band, along with all of their other bus riders, were heading northbound on Lima Road at the time of the tragic accident.

The MercyMe accident is truly a tragedy, and it is very sad news, not just for family members involved, but for supporters of the group MercyMe. While not all of the information has come in about the reason for this accident, it appears that the car turning in front of the bus must simply have not seen that the bus was coming at them. There were also no immediate comments from police as to who exactly was on the MercyMe tour bus, but members of MercyMe have been posting on their Twitter accounts that they were not only on the bus, but they witnessed the crash taking place. It is definitely a very sad event that is going to mare the rest of their current concert tour.

As reported by Jamie Richardson in Dallas, Texas, the band canceled a concert that was to take place at Six Flags St. Louis later in the day (August 8th). This is probably the right decision for the Christian band, and while it seems that neither they nor their driver is at fault in this tragedy, it is simply the right thing to do to suspend the concert out of respect for those that lost their lives as well as their families. It seems that the MercyMe is just a tragic accident that took place between two vehicles in the wrong place and the wrong time, and everyone just hopes that the driver of the other car recovers from her injuries. It was later reported that the female driver of the car is pregnant.

This accident truly is a tragedy, and my heart goes out to the bus driver, the passengers in the car, the family members of everyone involved, and of course the band which was riding on the tour bus.

The news story was posted on Saturday morning with the information available at the time. I agree, it is equally sad that the baby was lost. :(

  • Bonnie 8/8/2009

Why wasn't the baby mentioned as a fatality? The driver of the car was 35 weeks pregnant. The baby died too. He/she is just as important as the adults who died!

How sad! I will definitely be praying for all involved.

Just a note to the "reporter" of this article: If you're posting a news article, you probably want to check for spelling.
