Coming Up To Breathe - A song about finally being able to come p for air! When I feel as if life is strangling me and choking me I listen to this song. I speaks of breaking away from the bondage that life puts on us and taking in a big lung full of the freedom and love God provides for all of us! My favorite line in the song says it all, "I've held my breathe for all my life - but i am breaking free tonight! I've held my breath for all my life - but thank God I'm free tonight!"
So long Self - A song about "breaking up" with your inner man, your flesh, your human desires and flawed self image. My favorite line is, "So long self, there's just no room for two so you are gonna have to move!" When I need to remind myself that I am not the right person to be in charge of this life of mine - no matter how hard I try - I think about this song. Only a life fully surrendered to the freedom God gives can make me happy - I have had so much proof, so why do I often forget and try to "have my way" with things? Lord keep me humble and moving in the right direction!
Hold Fast - I just love the message in this song. When times are tough it alwasy inspires me to hold on! The opening verse says,
You're To Blame - A song that takes a fun approach by "blaming" God for all the good things that have happened to him. He mentions how blessed he has been, how he doesn't feel he deserves Gods blessings, but that he knows everything good he has is all a result of Gods help. A fun worship song I love to sing when I want to listen to something peppy!
No More No Less - A song about understanding that we are limited in our abilities and that we go through this life merely trying to be "real." When you just want to acknowledge that you are what you are and you understand God is in control - this is a great song to sing! The band attributes their change in personality to His efforts - and dispels the notion that they feel they are anything other than simply blessed. "I am just a man who understand because of you I'm blessed, no more no less." That line says it all!
Where I Belong - When I feel lost I love to listen to this song. It is a worship song about feeling at rest and at peace in the presence of a God who adores you and accepts you as you are. It is about going home and feeling secure. The song helps me remember that I am safe and whole only when I am in the arms of Jesus.
Bring The Rain - A song about accepting tribulations and trials with the understand that, if this is what we need to endure to give God glory, then so be it! My favorite verse says, "I am Yours regardless of the dark clouds that may loom above. Because You are much greater than my pain. You who made a way for me by suffering Your destiny. So tell me what's a little rain? So I pray - Holy, holy, holy Is the Lord God Almighty!" A great song to sing when you are going through tough times. It keeps you focused on the unchanging love of God.
Last One Standing - This song gives me the strength to keep going when I have been knocked down. The verse that says it all is, "Don't you count me out 'cause I've fallen, out 'cause I've fallen down. I have landed down on my knees, oh, down on my knees again. This is where I'll find the strength to carry on - This is where I'll find the strength to stand." This song is a constant reminder that our strength is in God and he is our source.
I would Die For You - My new all time favorite song from MercyMe! It speaks of having a true grasp of the reason we are all here - finding our purpose - and being excited about! The verse, "My life has never been this clear. Now I know the reason why I'm here. You never know why You're alive until you know what you would die for. I would die for You." says it all! If you know what you would die for - then you know what you have to live for! "To everyone who's hurting, To those who've had enough, To all the undeserving, That should cover all of us. Please do not let go, I promise there is hope. Hold fast, Help is on the way, Hold fast, He's come to save the day, What I've learned in my life, One thing greater than my strife, Is His grasp, So hold fast!" It reminds me that even when I can't hold on He can!
Safe And Sound - A song about the fear of letting go and letting God guide your life. The verse that says, "Safe and sound knowing that You're big enough to wrap around my heart completely. Safe and sound just knowing that You know me." I love the thougth of the security I get knowing that God knows me and loves me anyway!
