Meredith Emerson is Still Missing; Authorities Want to Speak with Gary Michael Hilton
Meredith Emerson Missing
Twenty-four year old Meredith Emerson and her Labrador Retriever Ella were last seen hiking on Blood Mountain in the North Georgia Mountains on New Years Day. Emerson's roommate reported that, Emerson had left her a note that she was going hiking. Meredith Emerson never returned home.
Witnesses Report Seeing Gary Michael Hilton Talking to Hilton
Several witnesses have reported seeing Gary Michael Hilton and his dog Dandy talking to Meredith Hilton on the day of her disappearance. Witnesses say that Hilton and Emerson were talking while their dogs ran off leash. They were last seen following their dogs after they ran up a mountain trail. Georgia authorities have not said how they learned of Hilton's name.
Witnesses have reported that Gary Michael Hilton was wearing a yellow jacket and a large backpack and had a sheath around his leg. An acquaintance of Hilton'' has reported that Hilton always carried around an expandable baton.
Search Teams and Items Found
Search teams are searching a vicinity of four hundred square miles in their search for Meredith Emerson and her dog Ella. Nighttime temperatures have been dropping to the low teens in area. Friends and family are participating in the search. They say that she was experienced at hiking and are hoping to find her safe and sound.
A water bottle and a leash that belonged to Meredith Emerson have been found. Her car was also found at the head of the trail. WBSTV.com has reported that a baton and sunglasses next to Emerson's' abandoned car.
Hilton's Cars
Myfoxatlanta.com reports that "Police said Hilton owns two vans, both are white. One is a Chevy Astro van, with license plate 768APZ, the other is a 2001 van, with tag number AFQ1310." Police are requesting that people keep a lookout for Hiltons' cars and report any sightings.
Physical Descriptions
Twenty-four year old Meredith Emerson has blond hair and blue eyes and is 5'4" tall.
Witnesses have described sixty year old Gary Michael Hilton as 5'10" tall with bad teeth.

Post a CommentThis is such a sad case. I've been following it for days and was hoping for the best. I can't believe he could do something so aweful. Meredith was such a pretty girl. It's a sad, sad world to live in where crimes like these happen on a daily basis.
Update # 4: Sad news. Search teams found the body of Meredith Emerson Monday night. Hilton has been charged with kidnapping with bodily injury. If convicted he could get a life sentence. There could be additional charges added since the finding of Meredith's body. The judge did not offer Hiton bail.
I also hope they find her alive Betty. Sadly, the police have found evidence that might suggest the worst. They found Meredith's wallet in a dumpster. In that same dumpster they found shirts that were bloodstained with human blood. The shirts match the description of the clothes that Meredith was wearing. Gary Michael Hilton also attempted to use a credit card of Meredith's.
It is very disturbing and unbelievable that one human could do this to another. Why?
Meredith is a beautiful person and I have great sympathy for her family. I pray to God that she will be found alive. May Hilton be prosecuted to the fullest. He should suffer if she did.
UPDATE # 3: This is a sad update. Gary Michael Hilton has been charged with kidnapping. Police have recieved a lot of evidence that suggests that Meredith Emerson is not alive. A spokesman for the police has said that they have found evidence that Meredith Emerson suffered bodily injury but would not go into further detail. Search teams are continuing the search for Meredith.
Good article. I fear the worst has happened now that they have found him, and some of her belongings that he put in the dumpster. I wish our world did not have so much crime and murder.
UPDATE # 2: Meredith Emerson's dog was found approximately 60 miles from where she was last seen. Search teams are searching the woods by where the dog was found as well. WBSTV has reported that Hilton is being held on an unrelated warrant. WBSTV has also reported "Police found items belonging to missing hiker Meredith Emerson in a dumpster Saturday in Cumming, outside a store where surveillance cameras captured the man investigators are calling a "person of interest" in the case."
UPDATE: Police found Gary Michael Hilton late Friday and have him in questioning. Hilton was found at a convinience store after witnesses phoned in sightings of him to the police. Meredith Emerson is still missing. Meredith Emersons' dog, Ella showed up unharmed at a grocery store. Ella's identity was confirmed by her microchip. There are unconfirmed reports that some of Emersons' belongings were found in a trash dumpster.
I hope they find her safe and sound.
My wife and I are with Cheryl, sounds like maybe something happened to both of them as I've not heard anything of the whereabouts of Michael. Hopefully they are both stuck somewhere and will be found safe.
