Pros
This treadmill requires some assembly and though the overall process is quite easy there are some stubborn bolts that won't go in easily. The parts are not pre-oiled so you have to do the dirty job. It is also recommended to use your own tools instead of the included ones because they aren't good enough to get the job done.
The assembled unit is sturdy and it looks as good as those more expensive models. The handles are strong so in case you slip you can be sure they can hold your body weight. It is also fairly quiet. The noise it makes is hardly discernible. If you turn on the television then you can't hear the noise at all.
Even though this is a cheap treadmill it is not a cheap-quality exercise machine. It's sturdy enough for a 250 pounds person to walk and run on it and it can do what a treadmill should do; to get you in shape. If you are someone who enjoy running for hours you can be sure this treadmill is able to withstand hours of continuous running.
The Merit Fitness 725T also has a good range of incline and speed. It can move up to a maximum of 10% incline which is a plus for people who enjoy running uphill. You can also adjust the speed from 1 to 10 mph. There are four preset programs (intervals, manual, weight loss and rolling hills) included to keep exercising interesting. The number of preset programs may not be as many as the number of programs in expensive models but for most people they will suffice.
Another good thing about this machine is that it is a collapsible treadmill. If you're planning not to use it for a while you can fold it and wrap it in cloth so it won't gather dust.
Cons
This treadmill comes with a built-in heart rate monitor on the handle but it's not a very good one. It is slow to pick your pulse and the number shown is just off. If measuring heart rate is important to you then you should buy a separate heart monitor.
Next is about the weight. This thing is really heavy so folding it and then tucking it away somewhere would be too much of a hassle. It's clear to say that the Merit Fitness 725T is not one of those easy-to-hide collapsible treadmills.
Conclusion
A good treadmill doesn't have to cost a fortune. That is simply true with the Merit Fitness 725T treadmill. In short it's a value-for-money exercise machine which would make a good fit for anyone who doesn't want to spend a fortune just to buy an exercise equipment.
