Mesa Grill: Renowned Chef Bobby Flay's Restaurant in Manhattan, New York

Hungry? I highly recommend Chef Bobby Flay's restaurant Mesa Grill in New York City. Dubbed best restaurant in New York magazine in 1992, you have to have a meal at the restaurant to understand why.

From the moment I walked into the restaurant, I could tell I was going to like it. The walls were painted in bright colors and the tables were covered with white table cloths. The bar was lightly light up and stocked with anything you could ever think of.

We were seated at a small table off to the side and one of the waiters immediately brought us a basket of various breads. I didn't get a chance to learn what they were, but there were three to four different kinds and there were two of each, one for each person in my party. It wasn't long before another waiter came along to take our orders for drinks. Because it was midday and I had to drive home, I didn't order any spirits like I normally would have. I had some coffee to warm myself as did my partner.

While looking over the menu, I noticed that we had the brunch menu. It was Sunday, about 2pm. I ordered an appetizer to start with. A spicy quesedilla with smoked salmon and salmon caviar. Salmon is a favorite of mine, but I had never tried caviar.

When my Quesedilla came out it looked great and once I tasted it, I was hooked. Fabulous is the only word I have for it. I couldn't have asked for anything better.

For my entree, I had a pulled pork sandwich. It didn't look like much but between the Quesedilla and the Sandwich, I left the restaurant pretty full and even took a doggie bag with me. Both my partner and I ate for a little less than $50. In my opinion, this is a great value considering service, ambiance, taste of food, and quantity of food.

I am not familiar with New York and I didn't drive to the restaurant itself, but it didn't look like there would have been an street parking available, however there were plenty of parking garages. The prices seemed expensive to me, but I am not from New York.

I highly recommend this restaurant to the restauranteurs, fans of Bobby Flay, those that love Southwestern Food, and anyone who's into trying something new!

Are there any hotels located close enough to walk to this restaurant?

Great location, bar, and restaurant space.... and I think the food is very good... at least. Probably better than very good. But I like the style of Bobby's specialties anyway!
