Mesotherapy: The Answer to the Battle of Cellulite

Goodbye to Cellulite

Elise Easterbrook
For years, women ages 18 and above have been battling with cellulite. They have eagerly spent thousands of hard-earned money in order to get rid of this "orange peel look" that exercise and diet can never get rid of. But what was originally invented for the treatment of joint aches, acne and infectious diseases became the solution to cellulite women have been waiting for.

Michael Pistor, a French physician created this device in 1952 and was widely used for cosmetic purposes in countries like France and Brazil. Mesotherapy can get rid of cellulite by breaking the tissues in our skin that accumulate fat. The procedure involves microinjections into the middle layer of the skin, also called "mesoderm." The homeopathic concoction that is injected to the mesoderm is made of vitamins, minerals and amino acids that burn and liquefy fat. Once the fat is liquefied, it could either be burned by the body or excreted through sweat or other methods. Thus, not only does Mesotherapy help in decreasing cellulite, it also helps re-shape the body by removing fat in the most stubborn places like the thighs, buttocks and stomach. Another good result of Mesotherapy is skin rejuvenation since additional vitamins injected in the skin will prevent sagging helping one achieve a more youthful and toned body.

Liposuction, which has been widely used as a quick solution to remove fatty areas of the body, is performed through surgery that requires general anesthesia. Yet, even with liposuction, cellulite cannot be removed. This is the good thing about Mesotherapy, women will no longer have to fear undergoing a major surgery in order to achieve the body they want. With just a local anesthetic, the area to be injected will be numb, sparing them the pain of needle pricking. Also, the procedure lasts only for 15 minutes and will not hamper the patient from doing regular activities right after. There is an amount of swelling and bruising in the next 10 days but still the condition is bearable.

Although Mesotherapy is highly effective, this procedure is only applicable to people who are not extremely obese or those who are not more than 50 lbs. overweight . The patient also has to be in good health for the procedure to be effective and have no negative reaction. One reminder though, undergoing Mesotherapy is not a guarantee that one can already have an unhealthy lifestyle. The only way to maintain and prolong the effect of Mesotherapy is through a disciplined lifestyle, meaning, proper diet, exercise and having a sufficient amount of rest.
