Mesotherapy involves 50-100 micro-injections of homeopathic-based medicines immediately beneath the surface of the skin to break down the cellulite, to improve circulation, lymphatic and venous drainage by destroying the fat cells and help in its elimination. This medical procedure was devised in 1952 by a French physician to treat acne, joint pains, and infectious disease. Years later, it became widely used in France and Brazil for celebrity beauty makeover.

The beauty makeover in Mesotherapy

If you ask singer Roberta Flack, the most famous celebrity to endorse mesotherapy, she'd say the procedure is very effective. In an interview with ABC last year, Flack said she'd lost 40 pounds after a year of treatment, regular diet and exercise.

While science can treat signs of aging, a lasting cure weight loss has remained elusive. Many have made promises-from over-the-counter-pills and creams to machines of various functions-but few, if any, have delivered.

Each treatment is a cocktail of vitamins, minerals and amino acids to liquefy your fats and improve the appearance of cellulites. Like many instant beauty makeover, the Mesotherapy cocktail is injected right into the areas being treated. The procedure is highly recommended to fix stubborn fats and cellulites--love handles, bra bulges, saddlebags, tummy folds, orange-peel thighs--because it breaks the network of connective tissue fibers in the skin that trap fat.

Treatment may be carried out immediately after your initial consultation at which point you will be informed as to how many treatments you will require. Micro-injections are given twice a week for maximum of eight weeks. After the treatment you can return to normal activities. The addition of Vitamin C to the mixture encourages the tone and quality of the overlying skin. The procedure takes about ten up to fifteen minutes and is hardly painful.

The treatment is long lasting and the results measurable. When the desired effects are achieved, all that is required of you is annual maintenance over a 4-6 week period. Overall, with a moderate amount of lifestyle change, Mesotherapy provides you visible beauty makeover of 2cm up to 2in after the sixth session.

A very safe Beauty Makeover

Mesotherapy is relatively safe because it is a noninvasive procedure that will work well even on obese patients. A local anesthetic is used to numb the areas. As a precaution, the doctors will ask if the patient has an allergy to a certain type of medication before the treatment. For safety, however, patients who have diabetes or high blood pressure are given minimal treatment. Side effects are usually limited to bruising and swelling around the injected area, a little pain or itch, for up to ten days after treatment.

One of the benefits of Mesotherapy is that there is no downtime-a patient can go back to work after a session (which actually lasts for a few minutes)-while a surgery's recuperation period lasts for about a week. In addition, there are no post-operative complications like scarring, or worse, infections.

Mesotherapy is completely safe beauty makeover when performed by well-trained physician. In fact, during the 50 years that Mesotherapy has been practiced, no deaths have occurred as a result. Compare this to liposuction, which causes approximately 100 deaths per year.

While Mesotherapy can now promote overall weight loss, it is not for the heavily obese. Ideally, a patient should be no more than 50lbs. overweight and in good health. The procedure does not promise that one becomes slimmer overnight. It is, however, a safe and easy way to get rid of small amounts of fat in the body, and break unsightly cellulites. Apart from said reduction, this beauty makeover can now be individualized for body sculpting.

With regular exercise and proper diet, Mesotherapy could be the beauty makeover many are desperately hoping for. If you still have doubts, ask Roberta Flack.
