Everyday we are enjoying our life as much as we can. Many of our everyday activities are leading us to an age where it will be difficult to get fresh air and water for the lives of our beautiful earth. We all know something about our own environment and how to keep that in a good shape for our future generation. But the main problem is that we are not paying much attention to those facts. We become selfish to ourselves. We don't want to think about the future of our grand children. We have to understand our responsibilities on how to improve our environment. If we see the cumulative effect of those actions every single step or activity of our day-to-day life is contributing a sustainable change of our environment.
The remarkable earth's climate change is mainly affecting the Polar eco-system. Recent study showed a distinguishable change in North Pole ice bed. A large portion of North Pole ice stack has been melted over past two years. "Melting Ice - a Hot Topic?" has been chosen as the main topic for this year's Environment Day by Union Nation (UN).
How many of us know the facts related to the liquid which helps us to sustain the life in earth. The other name of water is life. Do you now that there are several thousands of people in this world who use the same amount of water for a day as mush as you use to flush the toilet everyday? Yes, this is the truth. Per the prediction of scientists we have to see those days in near future when it will be very difficult to find little fresh drinking water to become alive in this earth. Here are few true facts for you about water and after reading those facts I hope we all will start caring about not to misuse water anymore. We did lot for ourselves, are we not able to do little more by protecting our future generation?
- You will be surprised to know that there are only 17 percent of people of our earth have access to drinking water. We are fortunate that we wash your face with fresh drinking water everyday.
- More than three forth of the Earth is made up with water (mainly Oceans). A very little portion (2.5 percent) of that water is not salty.
- More that 99 percent of all water of our Earth is either Ocean/Sea water (salt water) or water in ice form (glaciers or ice). Very little from the remaining portion of water is in use for us. Only 0.3% of water of our Earth is for us to use. Is it too little to use? Surprisingly, everyday that amount of usable water (0.3%) is also decreasing due to increased water pollution.
- Not all countries of this world are fortunate enough to have fresh water. Can you imagine that one half of the world's fresh water belongs within the borders of Canada?
- Groundwater is one of the main sources of fresh drinking water for most of the population while 4.0 percent of total groundwater is already polluted. More than 82% of total population is served by unpolluted groundwater.
