Methods of Egg Decorating for Easter
Egg Decorating is an Easter Tradition in Many Homes Accoss America.
When beginning to decorate your eggs you need to decide if you want to eat the eggs after or if you want to use only the egg shell for decorating. If you are planning on eating the eggs you will want to hard boil the eggs before decorating. To do that you will want to boil the eggs for 10 minutes and cool them quickly by rinsing the eggs in cold water. If you just want to use the egg shell, you will need to remove the egg whites and yolk from the inside. The method for this is known as egg blowing. You will need to pierce a small hole on each end of the egg. Insert a needle tip in to the egg and carve a small hole on each end. Proceed with blowing into the egg to pop the insides out through the hole on the other end of the egg. This procedure can be a bit tedious and may result with a few broken shells that will not be usable. A little patience and practice will help you through the activity! After you have removed the insides you will want to wash the egg shells very carefully with some warm water.
Once you have prepared the egg you can move onto the fun part! When shopping for dyes you can find almost any color and type of egg decorating kits. One of the easiest ways to decorate an egg is to purchase a shrink wrap kit. Inside the kit you will find covers that you simply slip over the egg that will shrink and mold perfectly to the egg when you boil them. Instructions are included for a perfect fit and the eggs will look beautiful in an Easter basket or centerpiece. There are countless kits containing simple egg dyes on the store shelves. The dyes will just need to be prepared and then you can begin dipping your eggs into the dyes. Swirl kits, disappearing crayons kits and stamp kits can all be used to dye beautiful eggs.
You can also use your own materials to decorate your Easter eggs. Craft materials of all sorts can be used to create beautiful designs on your eggs. Paint, marker, crayon, tin foil and even fabric can be experimented with. Crepe Paper can also be used to decorate the outside of the eggs. Use an assortment of colors to create an egg masterpiece. Sort the paper by color and place each color in a different cup. Soak the paper in hot water and then place the egg in the water with the paper. The egg shells will absorb the color and come out looking beautiful! You could also use decorative Easter tissue paper to glue onto the egg shells for a beautifully decorated egg! You could also use sponges to paint eggs with liquid tempera paint. You can just dip the sponge into the paint and decorate the egg as you wish. You can mix and match paint colors as you wish!
Once you are done dyeing and decorating your eggs, you will want to place them on a rack to dry. After the eggs are completely dry, you can place them into a basket to display your creativity! No house is complete in the Easter season with out a few decorated eggs!
