Metro Detroit road projects begin wrapping up

August is a big month for Detroit road work to conclude

More than a dozen metro Detroit roadwork projects, many funded by the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, also known as the economic stimulus plan, are scheduled to conclude in August. Here's the list:

- Double-lane closures on both northbound and southbound I-75 between Eight Mile Road and 12 Mile Road are on target to conclude at 5 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7. The projects started on July 23.

- Double-lane closures on eastbound and westbound I-96, from Joy Road to Davison Road, are scheduled to end by 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8. Traffic has been slowed since July 25.

- The eastbound I-696 ramp closure at Dequindre Street is scheduled to conclude by 6 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 1. The ramp has been closed since July 2.

- Eastbound 696's right-lane closure will end by 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1. Traffic has been held up since May 26.

- The eastbound I-696 ramp to Couzens Avenue is slated to reopen by 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1. The ramp was closed May 19.

- Eastbound I-696's ramps to 11 Mile Road will reopen by 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2.

- Double-lane closures on both northbound and southbound I-75 between Eight Mile Road and 12 Mile Road are on target to conclude at 5 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7. The projects started on July 23.

- Ramps from southbound I-275 to eastbound and westbound I-94 are scheduled to reopen at 12 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 13. They were closed June 14.

- Westbound I-96's southbound Novi Road ramp is on target to reopen by 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14. The ramp closed March 24.

- Northbound I-275 from Will Carleton to I-94 and southbound I-275 from Ecorse Road to Will Carleton no longer will have lane closures after 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 15. The closures started March 5.

- Southbound I-75's right-lane closure from Springwells to the Rouge River Bridge is scheduled to conclude at 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20. It took effect on July 26.

- Northbound and southbound I-75 evening left-lane closures from Squirrel Road to Giddings Road are scheduled to end by 6 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21. The shutdowns started on June 28.

- Northbound I-75's left-lane closure on the Rouge River Bridge is slated to conclude by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24. The closure was put in place June 24.

- Westbound I-94's two-lane blockage from Allington Road to St. Clair Highway is slated to conclude by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24. Traffic has been slowed since July 9.

- The rest area on northbound I-275 north of Michigan Avenue is set to reopen by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 31. It's been closed since May 14.
