Metro Detroit Road Work Will Show Results

Sometimes, it seems like road work is endless and that the projects never will be completed. However, there are 10 road work projects in the Metro Detroit area that will be finished before the end of July. Here is the schedule:

- On M-59 westbound, from I-75 to Oppdyke Road, the left lane has been closed since March 1 for bridge repairs. Reopening is set for 5 p.m. Thursday, July 15.

- The Gratiot Road ramp to eastbound I-696, closed since April 21, is slated to reopen at 12 a.m. Friday, July 16.

- The eastbound I-696 ramp to 11 Mile Road was closed April 24, and the target for reopening is 8 p.m. Friday, July 16.

- Shoulder work on southbound M-5, between 14 Mile and 13 Mile roads, started April 22 and is scheduled to conclude at 12 a.m. Sunday, July 18.

- The westbound M-59 ramp to Rochester Road closed June 21 and is scheduled to reopen by 11 p.m. Sunday, July 25.

- Work crews on March 24 closed the ramp from southbound Novi Road to westbound I-96. Reopening is slated for 3 p.m. Friday, July 30.

- From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays since June 4, construction crews have closed the westbound I-94 exit ramp to northbound U.S. 24, which is Telegraph Road. This arrangement is scheduled to conclude by 3 p.m. Friday, July 30.

- Work crews on March 24 closed the ramp from southbound Novi Road to westbound I-96. Reopening is slated for 3 p.m. Friday, July 30.

- One lane in each direction on M-85 (Fort Street) has been closed since March 23. The target date to finish the project is 7 a.m. Saturday, July 31.

- Closing of the exit ramp from eastbound I-96 to Grand River Avenue took place March 19, and reopening is to occur at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 31.

    It's always good when you start seeing results from all that effort. Plus, it'll probably be more convenient for those who has to take alternative routes.
