Metro PCS Family Plan Saves $5 Per Phone Line
Families Can Save Money on Every Phone Line on Metro PCS' Family Plan
Prepaid phone plans are designed to save money--this is their reason for existence, in addition to the no credit check rules and no-contracts and no termination fees. The Metro PCS Family plan helps families save money on their prepaid bills by giving a $5 per line (up to five lines total) discount every month. The basic unlimited plan from Metro PCS costs $40, so if you were to add a line to your family plan, that line would cost $35 every month for unlimited calling, texting, picture messaging, long distance, and more. But if you were going to choose a higher plan from Metro PCS, one that offers more in terms of options, then you would just subtract $5 off of that price to estimate your monthly payment.
So is this a good plan for you to consider? It really depends on your situation. Here are some things to consider as you look at the MetroPCS family plans. The first thing to consider is whether or not you are in an area where Metro PCS has strong coverage. This makes obvious sense since you need to be able to use your phone where you are located. Since Metro is a regional carrier, there are areas where it is not available. The second thing to consider is how many minutes, texts, picture messages you think you will need for each member of your family. Paying $35 per person could be overpaying if your kids aren't using all of their minutes. This is something to consider because even though it may be a good deal, it is always overpaying if you aren't using all of what you pay for.
Another thing to consider is phone choice. You can select any phone to use with this plan, so you have a lot of leeway, but are you happy with Metro PCS' phone selection? If you're just in it to save money, then go with the least expensive phone, but if you need more functionality, you may want one of the more expensive phone or another plan entirely. This may be a minor consideration but it is one nonetheless. One of the most important things to consider as you think about the Metro PCS Family plan is what the competition is offering. Straight Talk has some very good prepaid plans as does Boost Mobile and Net10. But since this plan is an Unlimited plan, you have to compare unlimited plan options and prices to be more precise. Since this is the case, Straight Talk and Boost Mobile are the biggest competitors, both having an Unlimited plan. Straight Talk costs $45 per month and Boost Mobile costs $50.
Take a look at all of the competition and assess whether or not Metro PCS is giving you the best deal after all. For a large family, you might be able to save some money on your phone bills, which is always a welcome occurrence.
