When I went back last week I saw one of Metromint's sleek water bottles with a silver label covered with red dots, I picked it up and saw that it was a flavor called Cherry Mint. I like cherries and cherry flavored drinks so I thought the water would taste good. I bought a 16.9 oz bottle for $1.50.
The water contains mint and cherry essence and the bottle's label says that this product is "mint water pure and simple" and that it will "relieve thirst, soothe the body and revive the soul." Metromint also claims that the mint in this water will "stimulate the nerves, and open the senses to send a fresh cool feeling throughout the body."
The label also has a small picture of a thermometer that gives you each flavor's chill factor. Cherry Mint has a chill factor of -5 degrees, which isn't literal, but it just describes the cooling sensation you're supposed to get when you drink it.
I drank the Cherry Mint the next day and it did relieve my thirst, but that's because it's mostly water. But the cherry flavor wasn't all that sweet and the mint was so strong that it basically tasted like I was drinking mouthwash or cherry flavored Hall's cough drops.
I began to sip it though, because I was thirsty, and at first it created a slight cooling sensation and a subtle tingle throughout my throat and stomach. But then the more I drank the more overpowering the sensation became.
I had to stop drinking the cherry Metromint because it made my chest and stomach feel really uncomfortable, like it was burning and tingling at the same time in the same way that mouthwash makes your mouth feel. It wound up giving me a stomachache, so needless to say, my body wasn't soothed and my soul wasn't revived at all.
In The End...
I wouldn't buy the Metromint Cherry Mint Water again. I hated the taste and the mint essence was way too strong for me, it totally overpowered my nerve endings.
Even though I had a bad experience with the Cherry Mint flavor, I would probably try another flavor of Metromint water. I would just pick a flavor that tastes better with mint, and one that had a lower chill factor (less mint essence).

Post a CommentI drank my 1st bottle of Metromint last fall in a west coast airport & loved it. I went online when I got home(Columbus, OH) to find where I could buy it. There are only a few stores that sell Metromint here & they don't sell the cherry flavor. Cherry is my favorite of all flavors. I might bite the bullet & order directly from the company!
