I picked up the Metromint Chocolate Mint Water. The bottle looks futuristic and sleek like a vodka bottle or something and it has a silver label that has cocoa colored dots printed all over the sides of it.
The Chocolate Mint water claims to be unlike anything you've ever tasted. And that it's all natural combination of water mint, and cocoa essence relives thirst, soothes your body and revives your soul. The label also said that the Metromint Chocolate Mint would be a real chocolate and mint experience without all of the sweeteners.
The mint is supposed to naturally stimulate your nerves, instantly opening your senses to send a fresh, cool feeling throughout your body. And there's even a drawing of a thermometer on the back of the bottle that tells you how cool each flavor of Metromint will make you. And apparently the Chocolate Mint is supposed to give you a "quietly cool" sensation.
I honestly thought that this water would be a bunch of crap, and I didn't think it would be good, but I just decided to try it because I had to, the concept was just too odd, so I bought a 16oz bottle for $1.50.
The Metromint Chocolate Mint Water contains purified water, mint, and cocoa essence. I froze the bottle and when I drank it I thought it tasted mostly like mint flavored water with a hint of cocoa flavor. It kind of reminded me of the Frango mints that used to be made my Marshall Field's or any kind of dark chocolate mint. But then at other times, especially as it got warm it kind of reminded me of Mylanta - kind of chalky, minty, and gross tasting.
I liked that it was actually quietly cool. Metromint left my mouth, throat, and even my stomach and esophagus feeling very fresh and chilly and it was a little bit more refreshing and flavorful than just regular water. But it's not sweet and artificial tasting like other flavored waters and it isn't as strongly flavored as teas.
In The End...
I didn't love the Metromint Chocolate Mint water because chocolate flavored water is kind of weird, but I wasn't disgusted by it either. I wouldn't drink this flavor regularly, but I'd buy it on those days when I'm craving chocolate but I want a healthier alternative. I don't think it's a full out chocolate experience but it would get the job done. 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Post a CommentI buy both the chocolate and cherry mint waters regularly as an alternative to sodas and find them refreshing and enjoyable. The review seems as though it's looking for something to complain about. May I suggest taxes, insurance premiums, or DMV lines ?
I must say that the chemical properties of flavor change drastically when something has been frozen and then thawed again...it's very hard to see the credibility of this review.
