Mexican Party Music Songs Great for Cinco De Mayo

Cinco De Mayo Party Music for Your Playlist

Robin Vinci
If this year for Cinco de Mayo you are planning a party and need some great music, here are a few songs you should try to download for your playlist.

I think it best to start off with a few songs most people would know before jumping to more traditional Mexican music.

Why not start off with "La Bamba" by Los Lobos? People often sing to and refer to Jimmy Buffet's "Pina Colada" as a Mexican type of music so the crowd will enjoy it and sing to it.

Get the dancing moving with The Hit Crew's two very popular songs "Mexican Hat Dance" and the all-time party favorite "Macarena".

At this point your guests will be into it and some other real Mexican music can be mixed in.

Try some Mariachi songs such as those from Placido Domingo like "Serenata tapatia" and "Noche plateada". Add in "La Receta" by Kemo and Vicente Fernandez songs such as "Perdoname" and La ley del monte."

Try music from Luis Miguel with songs like "Me Gustas Tal Como Eres", "Un Sol";, "Ya Nunca Más", "La Incodicional", Cuando Calienta El Sol", "Ahora Te Puedes Marchar"," La Media Vuelta" and "Yo Que No Vivo Sin Ti."

The Artist Fonseca has some good Mexican music like "Como Me Mira".

You may want to put in an early version of the Mexican Hat Dance at this point to keep the singing going for those who don't listen to Mexican music much.

Next, why not add Ricky Martin's "Livin' la Vida Loca." Even though this song is Latin, many people will like it and it works? Then finish with Gloria Estefan's "Congo" and "Turn the Beat Around." This gets people back into the pop music mood while sticking to your theme.

This should be a great CD you will want to keep around for years to come.

If you want to buy ready made CD's of Mexican music, then I suggest you look for "Ultimate Mexican Party Music" Volume 1; "Mariachi from Mexico"; "Fiesta Party Music"; "Mejor Mariachi de Mundo" and "Latin Mix USA" Volume 1 or Volume 2.

There are many more CDs out there so keep looking until you find one you like. I recommend you search eBay or Amazon to see what is available.

Adios Amigos!

IDK as a Mexican In find this article somewhat offensive, not angry but I thought I would just clarify that none of those songs would never ever be heard at an actual Mexican party.
