Mexican Tunas are grown on the Mexican Cactus in Southern Central Mexico in the desert area of the mountains. Mexican Tunas usually grow in different colors which include yellow, green, and purple on the inside of the Mexican Tunas or outside of them. Mexican Tunas are best consumed when picked at early daylight, because they are cool and the taste is really refreshing. I usually put some plastic gloves on when picking Mexican Tunas to avoid getting pointy stickers on my skin, but they are sometimes not avoidable.
The way you get to the fruit is peeling is required to be done to get to the delicious center which is sweet and not bitter. The taste is fresh and the taste kind of reminds me of a fresh watermelon when eaten on a hot summer day here in Southeast Texas. When in Mexico we usually gather a lot of peeled Mexican Tunas and we store them for a while in the refrigerator so they can keep their freshness for a few days. But, readers don't get worried about having to go to the country side of Mexico to eat Mexican Tunas, because street vendors in Central Mexican Cities usually sell them peeled by the bag, but they are expensive to buy.
When eating these fresh delicious fruits just make sure to be careful with with the seeds, because Mexican Tunas have large seeds in their fruit. I would suggest eating Mexican Tunas with a group of friends early in the morning, because the Mexican Tunas are very cold and fresh, because at night the temperature drops below seventy degrees. But, if the Mexican Tunas are eaten during the day the taste is not the same, instead the Mexican Tunas are very hot and not as sweet. Unfortunately Mexican Tunas are only sold in Mexico as far as I know, they but grown in Arizona and New Mexico but from what I know the breed of these cactus in Mexico is different.
