Mexicans Make Most of Magnificent Dip

Cilantro and Lime Add Tangy Twist to Delicious Dip

I have periods where I am not to calorie-conscious and the only dip I am dipping into is when I am dipping into some chocolate-chip ice cream with an Oreo, but there are times when I want to lose weight and look good. It is so hard to lose weight when you love to eat and you disregard how many calories the food you are eating has. It is as equally difficult to when you do not eat portions that are considered "normal" by others.

What is normal anyway? Who decided what is considered normal? If you look on the side of an ice cream carton, you will find that some insane person put that a regular serving size is 1/2 cup. Who eats ice cream in 1/2 cup portions? I could eat a pint or two easily. I don't think 1/2 cup is normal. The serving size for Oreos, according to the package, is three, if memory serves me right. Who eats only three Oreos? Who eats 1 cup of cereal or 1 tbsp. of sour cream? What skeletons are working in the package labeling factory?

People love to snack; it is a multi-billion dollar industry and their weight shows it. Americans are the most obese people on the planet according to the Census Bureau's 2007 Statistical Abstract of the United States. In order to not become overweight one must exercise, eat healthily and snack healthily as well. If you are serious about losing weight then try the following most healthy snack I have found that includes dip.

What you can do to get your fix for chips and dip is to buy baked tortilla chips and indulge in the following classic Mexican recipe for "pico de gallo". Get baked tortilla chips to save calories and get the following ingredients:

5 med. fresh, ripe tomatoes, cubed
2 med. onions, diced
1 bunch cilantro, finely chopped
1/8 cup lemon or lime juice

Add salt and pepper to taste. Stir together in medium sized bowl. Serves 6 adults or 2 hungry ones.

Pass that bag of unwanted Oreo's over this way please? I'll get back to the dip thing when I'm done. That sounds good too! There's a reason for those 1/2cup serving sizes on the sides of containers you know. When they're done dishing 'em up, that leaves more for us!
