The restaurant is located on the Almaden Road side of the fork, in a rundown industrial area. Parking there can be a problem if you arrive during the lunch rush. The lot consists of maybe two lanes. Fortunately, the street parking makes up for the shortage of parking lot space.
Once you park your car and get out, you have two options. You can walk up to the window and place your order, or order it inside the restaurant. The inside of the restaurant is clean, if not old and showing its age.
My husband likes to eat at Mexico City at least once a week because he loves the food and it is close where he works. Unless I meet him there, he will order the food and go pick it up. He has never complained to me about the food being cold when he arrived. I ordered over the phone once and had a good experience.
We occasionally like to meet there for lunch. The building is old and rather seedy, but the food is fabulous. I usually get the chili colorado or chili verde burrito combo. The combo has the rice, beans, produce, and guacamole. You can ask them to leave off the items that you do not want, such as the lettuce. The burritos are large and stuffed with tasty ingredients.
They cook our meals and set them on our table within 15 minutes, which gives us plenty of time to eat before we have to return to work. They serve a wide variety of items for lunch and dinner. Plus they serve breakfast items, such as breakfast burritos and huevos rancheros.
While there is nothing remotely fancy about Mexico City, it has been around for a long time because of its reputation of serving great Mexican food.
