MGM Studios at Walt Disney World
Walt Disney World's MGM Studios Has Some of Florida's Greatest Attractions
Let's start with the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith. This indoor rollercoaster sends you on a thrilling journey in style. You'll board a super-stretch limo and be launched to a concert, listening to Steven Tyler belting out Aerosmith tunes along the way. This wild coaster is a truly thrilling and unique experience.
Then, I suggest heading over to The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. You'll enter the creepiest hotel in Central Florida and take an elevator upstairs - then plummet thirteen stories back to the ground. But not before being tossed up and down between floors randomly.
MGM Studios' newest attraction is Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show. Some of the world's top stuntmen exhibit their skills in custom vehicles - cars, motorcycles, and rocket skis. You'll be dazzled by the stunts and pyrotechnics. You may want to capture some of these moments on video camera if you have one.
Another outstanding stunt show at MGM Studios that never gets old is the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular. Giant boulders, spikes, explosions and large German men combine to try to stop the timeless archeologist. Watch Indiana Jones run, dive and fight his away to safety.
If you like Star Wars, you have to visit Star Tours at MGM Studios. You'll board a flight simulator with C3PO and be asked to do your best to defeat the Evil Empire (no, not the New York Yankees) by destroying the Death Star. Buckle up - because R2D2 is your pilot.
A terrific show your kids won't want to miss is Muppet Vision 3D. This fun attraction features Kermit, Piggy, Fozzy, Gonzo and the rest of the gang in a dazzling misadventure.
A slow but fairly entertaining attraction at MGM Studios is The Great Movie Ride. The appearance of the Wicked Witch of the West in Oz is reason enough to hop aboard this ride.
For a behind-the-scenes look at the movies, be sure to visit the Disney-MGM Studios Backlot Tour.
There aren't many truly good restaurants in Disney World's four major theme parks, but MGM Studios has one of them. I highly recommend you dine for lunch or dinner at the Hollywood Brown Derby. It's a bit pricey, but the food and atmosphere make the experience worth your final bill.
