Mi Chiamo Eka. That's Italian for 'My name is Eka.' And Eka has found his forte!

Tuesday night at K Street Lounge, Ebong Eka's ready-to-wear line lobbied to end Washington's conservative male fashion and replace it with luxury liberal style. The playground for D.C.'s political and social movers and shakers was packed in eager anticipation of Mi Chiamo Eka's showcase debut.

The crowd might have been there for the models, too. Several of the areas hottest bachelors, including Earth Echo's Philippe Cousteau, Sherif Abdalla and Tony Hudgins of Play Lounge, celebrity DJ Seyhan Duru, and media personality Steve Chenevey, strutted Eka's stuff on the red carpet runway while onlookers moved to the mixed music of DJ Dirty Hands. The fashion was a showcase of classic mens clothing in fine Italian fabric marked by sleek styles, clean lines, and an undeniable air of sophistication.

But what is fashion without a cause - especially as DC defines itself as a place where style, fashion, and philanthropy meet?

Like many young social professionals in the city, Eka commits funds and resources to several charities in the Washington area, but dedicated that this venture would help to combine business and fashion to provide opportunities for D.C.'s inner city youth. A portion of the evenings proceeds were earmarked for Hoop Dreams, a non-profit that "empowers DC students and builds bridges across diverse communities."
