Keg (as in a keg of beer!?) stumbled on stage in an all-black outfit with random red ribbons tied to his body. After executing a sickening discord of Kiss's "Rock and Roll all Night," he was promptly booed off stage. Unfortunately, America is not yet ready for Keg. We wish you the best though, 'lone ranger!'
Kari Callin
The next headliner to hook our attention was radiology technician Kari Callin, a plain Jane with plain garments and plain hair, but a very 'un-plain' voice. The irony is that due to her disfigured face-the result of a cleft palate that was surgically fixed-she was previously denied an opportunity to audition to sing on a cruise ship. Said Pierce Morgan, "Forget the cruise shit; they'll never be able to afford you!" That's what I call sweet justice!
After Callin came construction project-manager Keith Johnson; a batch of awkwardly-dressed 8 year-olds known as the Pixie Mystere (they wore tan outfits chockfull of large polka dots); and singing-group 'Reality,' who were unfortunately in serious need of a 'Reality'-check!
Destined 2 Be
And how can we forget the night's hit dance entourage, Destined 2 Be. Hailing from Indianapolis, Indiana, these five young gentlemen knocked us out with a flock of robotical skips, struts, and twists from side to side, front to back, and up to down. Their moves were somewhat lackluster, but nobody can deny their extravagant showmanship.
They were then followed by harp-player/singer Rashida Jolley, who sang 'Killing Me Softly' by the Fugees; dorm-room friends Matt (guitarist/singer) and Anthony (tap-dancer), two socially backward teens who I speculate may be in-the-closet homosexual lovers (I merely jest); an Argentine dancing act; a father/son acrobatic duo; and a cowboy/cowgirl couple whipping up a storm with their lasso.
Mia Boostrom
Every night, "America's Got Talent" always saves the best act for last; this time was no different. I introduce Miss Mia Boostrom, a young singer/song-writer from Dighton, Massachusetts. Last year, Mia flew to New York City and then eventually to Las Vegas, where she performed in front of only David Hasselhoff, Piers Morgan, and Sharon Osborn. Unfortunately, she didn't make the cut and was subsequently sent back home to Massachusetts.
Well, it is now a year later and she is back-hopefully ready to overcome last year's unfortunate failure. Before strutting on stage, she confided in Nick. " When I left the show last year, I was so devastated. It's way more important this year. I want to show that I wasn't just the girl in the red dress."
Indeed-she certainly wasn't dressed in red this time around. Rather, she wore a rather hippy-esque outfit consisting of blue jeans, a white tunic with a flower pattern over the bosom, and a 70s-like band around her flowing, dark-brown hair. Her Mother, standing off-stage with Nick Cannon, dressed rather similarly-mind you, in a more refined style (I wonder where Mia got her style from?).
Anyway. Equipped with her piano, Boostrom unloaded a year's worth of training upon an audience practically begging for a colossal finale; per which she did not disappoint!
Noted Sharon, "It's amazing how far you've come in that year!"
Even Pierce was flabbergasted, commenting, "You are a much better singer now with a much better range."
Hasselhoff said it best though, proclaiming, "You can't fail in life unless you quit; and you're NOT a quitter!"
Well done, Mia Boostrom.
Lesson of the day: "Winners never quit; and quitters never win." (Ted Turner)

Post a CommentCutting Kari Callin is the hugest judgement error in talent show history. She has an extaordinary voice, and was given the highest praise by the three judges, and not given a chanace to go through after that. Its not too late to bring her back, and admit you were wrong David, Sahron, Peerce.
Correction: The show started in Seattle, but finished in New York.
