Miami Dolphins Vs Buffalo Bills: NFL Opening Week Las Vegas Line & Pick Against Spread

Dolphins Catch a Break Against Buffalo Playing Them in September

Todd Jacobs
Luck is what one makes of it and the Miami Dolphins are lucky to be playing the Buffalo Bills on September 12 instead of in December. This being said the Buffalo Bills may be a team that will be a spoiler in the AFC East this season. The Bills can get off on the right foot by beating their mortal rivals the Miami Dolphins in Buffalo this weekend.

Miami Dolphins Ground Game Will Have to Be Stopped by Buffalo Bills

The Miami Dolphins have a history of pounded the ball on the Buffalo Bills and if all their running backs are healthy the wildcat offense should be in full force. Buffalo will have to address their run stopping defense if they want to shut down Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams in this game.

The Dolphins without Ronnie Brown, lost 31-14 in Buffalo in November and only rushed for 150 yards. Stopping the run is huge for the Buffalo Bills because they have one of the best pass defenses in the NFL. When it comes to their own running game, the Buffalo Bills are an unknown commodity. Marshawn Lynch is banged up and Fred Jackson is already out for the first week of the NFL season. CJ Spiller will be the real wild card in this game. The edge in the running game goes to the Miami Dolphins.

Special Teams Edge is Also an Unknown on Both the Miami Dolphins & Buffalo Bills

The Miami Dolphins were not happy with their electric return man Ted Ginn Jr and now they could be without a solid returner on special teams. Meanwhile, the Buffalo Bills used their first round draft pick to land CJ Spiller, an exhilarating speedster that can hit the gap and take off for 50 yards on any return.

Entering this game against the Miami Dolphins, it remains to be seen if the Buffalo Bills CJ Spiller will pay immediate dividends. The Bills have installed their own wild cat offense in preseason and Spiller will most likely be under center for more than a couple of snaps. Special teams edge is even between the two teams.

Passing Games of Trent Edwards & Chad Henne are Sketchy at Best

Both Chad Henne and Trent Edwards have not been NFL Hall of Fame caliber since they have taken their respective spots as starters on their teams. Henne's issue may be the inconsistent nature of the offense. Substituting in Ronnie Brown as the QB has to upset his rhythm as a starting quarterback.

Trent Edwards will have a first hand look at the how the wild cat works this season, when CJ Spiller comes in as the quarterback several times during this game against the Miami Dolphins. The Bills pass defense is better than the Miami Dolphins, giving the Dolphins the edge in passing game.

Final Look and Pick Against the Spread: Miami Dolphins vs Buffalo Bills -3

At 100-1, the Buffalo Bills are a long shot to win the Super Bowl, according to the Las Vegas Hilton Superbook. This means one of the only things to motivate Buffalo this season will be to upset their fellow AFC East competitors, especially the Miami Dolphins.

Buffalo plays well against the AFC foes on their home field and if the Miami Dolphins get caught up in their preseason hype they could get blown out of the water in this game. Ronnie Brown will be a key if he can play in this game. He has had an ailing injury and it could lead to him sitting out. Take the home team Buffalo Bills +3 to win this game straight up.

One of us will be 3-0 and the other 0-3? First week is a tough week i usually wait to pick this early but I have had so much time to look at the betting and ATS numbers on these, felt confident.
