Miami Metro Zoo Review

The Portland Journal
Miami, Florida - Among the many wonderful sights and sounds of Miami, Florida; is an amazing family attraction that you are going to love every moment of visiting. The Miami Metro Zoo is ideally located off SW 152nd Street (992) and is not too far away from the Miami coast about one mile west of Richmond Heights.

Recently refurbished to include over 100 new animal attractions within wonderful enclosures which are close to their natural habitats, within the 'Amazon and Beyond' Tropical American exhibit that opened in December 2008. The attraction is absolutely brimming with fun activities for the kids and information for the animal enthusiast.

A zoo has to offer certain characteristics, charm, attractions and environment aspects to make it a special place to visit. All these qualities are offered which means you are not going to be let down in the slightest by Miami Metro Zoo or Metrozoo as many know the place as. The mission by 'The Zoological Society of Florida' and 'Metrozoo' is the appreciation and encouragement of the world's wildlife, which they aim to help conserve it for future generations to come. This is being upheld in a beautiful and animal friendly attraction that both children and adults will be thrilled to be a part of by visiting.

There are so many animals for you to see at the zoo, there are even interactive experiences in certain parts of the zoo where you are able to actually touch some animals in total safety with the supervision of the keepers. The Wildlife Show is one attraction you are surely not going to want to miss out on; as not only is it an education but you get to be close to animals that you may never get to be near in their natural environment. "Roar" says the cheetah... fun!

Within the 'Amazon and Beyond' attraction you will see a variety of new animals to Miami Metro Zoo. Such wonders as the giant anteaters, jaguars, snakes, red-eyed tree frogs with their mysterious looks and even giant-river otters that are bigger than you might think. There are so many animals in the attraction that you can be in this area for quite some time, marveling at the spectacle of nature at its most impressive.

The zoo is separated into continental sections all of which have there surprises. The African exhibits house some of the worlds most prolific cats and beasts like the notorious king of the jungle; the lion and the lovable and colorful "Painted Wolf" better known as the Cape Hunting Dog. The exhibit has an encounter you will marvel at with every turn.

The Asian exhibit has some wonders of its own, who would have thought that you would ever see an animal that looks part horse, part donkey and from its fleece type coat must even have some sheep in it somewhere; the 'Onager' is quite a funny looking horse which apparently is on the endangered list of species, so it is quite a treat to see one up close.

Among the other features is the Australian exhibit, the Giraffe Feeding Station, where you can feed Giraffes; there are the crazy sights of many different types of monkeys who entertain their audience in an endless cycle of noise and fun.

There are water park features, rides, education zones, celebrity TV humans, so many activities and interactive zones for you and the kids.

Without doubt Miami Metro Zoo is one of the feature attractions of Florida, you will want to spend more than one day there. So you might want to check in at one of the many nearby hotels if you are not staying in the local area.

This and my other advice is too be prepared for a long walk around the zoo.

There are many eating and drinking places within the facility so you are well catered for in that respect. You will find the facilities more than adequate but if it is a hot day you might want to be prepared for some open areas and take the sun-cream just for your protection, the animals would be laughing at the sight of over heating humans within their home.

You will enjoy yourself so all you need do now is get over there and have fun.
