Miami Street Food

Miami is a wonderful location for a great vacation where you can relax, get some sun and eat great food. There are lots of standard restaurants that you'd find in any touristy area and also lots of specialty and ethnic restaurants as well like Asian, Italian, Greek, Mexican, Spanish, Cuban and so on. It's easy enough to find any kind of food that your taste buds desire at restaurants that have all different price ranges.

It won't be as easy if you are looking for street food in the Miami area. Most cities have their specialty food items available on trucks and vendor's carts throughout the city but even though Miami is a four season vacation spot, there are only a handful of locations where you can get some good Miami street food.

Due to Miami's close proximity to Cuba, Cuban coffee is very popular in the area. It is served at outdoor walk up windows. A popular location is La Carreta which is know for it's tasty coffee and it's atmosphere as people like to have a coffee and socialize there. If you are looking for some Cuban food, try El Rey De Las Fritas located at 1821 SW 8th Street. They serve authentic Cuban food including the "Frita" which is a chorizo sausage sandwich.

If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, a small truck pulling a stand has it in Coral Gables. It is called Taqueria Mexican Orale and it is located at NW 17th Street and NW 27 Avenue Tuesday through Friday and at 28th St and 37th Ave on weekends. They serve delicious tacos, quesadillas filled with chicken, chorizo sausage , beef and pork which are slow cooked and flavorful. Once you have your main dish, you can top it with one of their different salsa's ranging from mild to very hot. They also have all the fixings you'd expect to find at a taco stand like pico de gallo, guacamole, peppers and so on. This place has a good reputation.

If you are looking for street food in Miami and you can't find anything that you want, you can always get something good to eat at a local diner. You could try Jimmy's East Side Diner located at 7201 Biscayne Blvd. In Miami or the 11th Street Diner for some quick, delicious and inexpensive food. You just can't beat a diner for that type of menu.

There are a few other locations where you can get street food in Miami that serve hot dogs, barbecued foods and some ethnic foods, but again, street food is not abundant.
