Michael Douglas Announces Cancerous Tumor in Throat; Staying Optimistic About Treatment

People Magazine is reporting Doctors have found a cancerous tumor in legendary actor Michael Douglas' throat. Douglas, who has stared in some of Hollywood's biggest movies including Wall Street and Romancing the Stone, plans to start eight weeks of chemotherapy and radiation treatments as soon as possible.

A representative for Douglas and his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones told People Douglas recently learned about the tumor from a Doctor's visit and is trying to stay optimistic his Doctor was able to catch the tumor in time.

In an official statement to the press Michael Douglas simply said, "I am very optimistic" when discussing his throat cancer diagnosis.

Douglas also went on to say that his Doctor's have confidence he will make a full recovery from the Cancer after eight weeks of intense treatment.

While Douglas is staying optimistic about his diagnosis People also interviewed a Doctor for the article who specializes in head and neck Cancer's who was quoted as saying using chemotherapy and radiation treatments together might be a signal the cancer is advanced.

Douglas was preparing to do a publicity tour for his newest movie Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, but plans to take time off to focus on his treatment and his family with Zeta-Jones, including son Dylan and daughter Carys. Michael Douglas is also trying to stay positive and focused for his son Cameron who is currently serving a jail sentence for dealing drugs.

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps will also star Shia La Beouf, Josh Brolin, Carey Mulligan and Charlie Sheen. The film will be a much anticipated sequel to the 1987 hit movie "Wall Street."
