Some people may take a stage 4 cancer diagnosis and the start of radiation and chemotherapy treatments as a reason to be negative, but Michael Douglas is taking the opposite approach. The star joked on David Letterman that he was diagnosed with cancer the same day he found out he would be a guest on David Letterman. Letterman quickly assured the audience that there was no medical link between his show and throat cancer. Throughout the interview, David Letterman was filled with questions that Michael Douglas was quick to answer with no hint of animosity.
Information revealed by Michael Douglas about his case of stage 4 cancer and treatment included the realization that treatments would degrade his health as they progressed. David Lettermen seemed taken aback by the fact that Douglas looked healthy and did not sound like he had throat cancer. According to Douglas, as the radiation treatment continues, burns, sores and blisters will appear on the inside of the mouth and throat making it difficult or impossible to swallow or consume food.
