Michael Douglas Stars in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps as He Battles Stage 4 Cancer
Here's Hoping the Legendary Actor Conquers Cancer!
The 65-year-old actor stated in a press conference that cancer couldn't have arrived at a better time. Showing that he has not lost his sense of humor. He has kept an upbeat attitude and remained hopeful despite what life throws at him. Douglas said that hit current schedule gives him plenty of time to watch sports. As a fan of college football and tennis he looks forward to the sports schedule. He was also promoting his new film in New York.
Wall Street Never Sleeps costars Susan Surandon, Shia LaBeouf, Carey Mulligan, and Josh Brolin, with Douglas reprising his role as Gordon Gekko.
In an interview with PEOPLE he revealed that he is not focusing on the negative aspect of his disease. Instead he is choosing to remain optimistic by taking it one day at a time by doing his homework and resting. He goes on to call it another chapter in his life.
He told USA Today that the tumor is shrinking and his odds are good. Currently he is undergoing eight weeks of treatment. He and wife Catherine Zeta-Jones live in an Upper West Side apartment with their children Carys (7) and Dylan (10). Douglas also has an older son Cameron (31), from a previous marriage. Cameron brought about a big media storm recently for his drug arrest. He is currently serving time for dealing large amounts of drugs from his hotel room.
Michael Douglas is the first to admit it has been an incredibly tough year. Now his ex-wife, Cameron's mother, is suing for money he made for Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. They have been divorced for years, not to mention the movie has yet to even be released. Greedy. The man worked despite having cancer, and I don't understand what makes her think that she is deserving of his rightfully earned money. Personally I think someone needs to tell her to get a job. Who knows what her reasoning is. Work for your own money. That is the way the world works.
He recently appeared on David Letterman and revealed his cancer has reached stage 4. Naturally, his hope is that the stage 4 cancer doesn't spread. His doctor gave him an 80 percent chance at recovery.
The National Cancer Institute claims that patients with stage 4 head and neck cancer generally undergo surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. So far his cancer has spread to only nearby lymph nodes, which makes it 50% to 80% curable.
His first symptom was a sore throat earlier this summer. After seeing an ear/nose/throat specialist, getting a CAT scan, and undergoing tests and a biopsy, the tumor was revealed at the base of his tongue.
Regardless of his disease he isn't focused on pondering the meaning of life. He's going on with life and is set to start shooting Steven Soderbergh's biopic next year. He will play Liberace and Matt Damon will co-star as his lover. The film is based on Scott Thorson's Behind the Candelabra (My Life With Liberace), and is the basis for the film.
Michael Douglas was born on September 25, 1944, in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He is the son of Kirk and Diana Douglas. His father is also a legendary actor.
Some of the most notable roles of his career happened in films like Romancing the Stone (1984), Fatal Attraction (1987), Basic Instinct (1992), Wall Street (1987), The Game (1997), and Disclosure (1994). The Academy Award winning actor has also worked as a producer for movies like One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. His film credits go on and on.
Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps is set to be released at the theater on September 24. The film was directed by Oliver Stone, and is a sequel to the 1987 hit film that earned Douglas an Oscar. Find out more about the film's premise and see the trailer to learn more about the upcoming movie release.

Post a CommentThe basis for Diandra Douglas' lawsuit over profits from the new movie "wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" is that this is an extension of the first film which was made in 1987 when she and Douglas (whom she says was a serial philanderer) were still married, and she was/is entitled under the community property rights of the state in which they resided to 1/2 of his wealth at the time of their divorce. The ex-Mrs. Douglas obviously views "Wall Street 2" as an extension, if you will, of "Wall Stret 1." Whether the courts will agree with her is anybody's guess, but certainly Michael Douglas has had a bad year. As Shia LaBoeuf said in an interview, "We filmed a struggling man."
Michael Douglas turned 66 on September 25th. I know, because a good friend calls him her "birthday twin." It is also noteworthy that Douglas' wife and Barbara Walters share the same birth date (if not year).
