Michael Jackson 25th Anniversary Edition of Thriller: Appealing for Both Old and New Fans

My brothers and I were laying on the floor in the living room in anticipation. Michael Jackson's Thriller music video was about to debut for the first time on the television and we could hardly contain our excitement.

I was 8 years old at the time and in love with pop's biggest star, Michael Jackson. Really, I even had the trading cards to prove it.

25 years later, we are met with a release of a special anniversary album of Michael Jackson's Thriller, and I sit and reminisce about my love of Michael Jackson's music as a child. I still sing along to his songs if I hear them playing on the radio and have even taught my children Jackson's famous Moonwalk dance move.

I was curious to see just what is so special about the 25th Anniversary Edition of Michael Jackson Thriller and found that Amazon has conveniently placed samples of the music on their website. Out of curiosity I listened to each music sample from the bonus tracks (tracks 9-16) from the 25th Anniversary Thriller edition. It appears to me that when making the 25th Anniversary Edition of Michael Jackson's Thriller album the producers were aiming to make Thriller appealing to the younger generation. You can hear modern day hip hop stars such as Fergie and Akon singing along to popular songs from Michael Jackson's Thriller album, big names recognizable by the current generation of hip hop and pop music lovers.

However I am not a modern day hip hop/pop lover. I love my 80's pop, such as Michael Jackson music, and feel that they should have handled the Thriller 25thFor All Time, a previously unreleased track sung by Michael Jackson from the original Thriller music album.

I would have liked to have seen names from the 80's pop generation listed on the bonus tracks of the 25th Anniversary Edition of Michael Jackson's Thriller. All of the modern day hip hop/pop stars, such as Fergie and Akon, should have been singing for a tribute album honoring Michael Jackson instead of on this special Michael Jackson 25th Anniversary Edition of Thriller.

However all is not lost for this special anniversary edition of Thriller. Your purchase also includes a bonus DVD featuring the three music videos which came from Michael Jackson's Thriller, as well as Michael Jackson's performance of Billie Jean which aired on a television special from 1983. The deluxe version also includes a 48 page colored booklet featuring rare photos of Michael Jackson, lyrics, as well as a personal greeting written by Michael Jackson himself.

I would recommend purchasing this Michael Jackson album just for nostalgic reasons. The inclusion of three Michael Jackson videos makes this 25thKing of Pop music. I know that the Michael Jackson 25th Anniversary Edition of Thriller has reminded me of my love for Michael Jackson music and of my childhood crush on a rising pop star. I am sure that I will be purchasing this Michael Jackson album, a special anniversary edition of one of the greatest selling albums of all time. Anniversary Edition differently.
