Michael Jackson Autopsy Results Produce More Questions

Was Michael Jackson's Death Caused by an Overdose of Prescription Medication?

The Michael Jackson autopsy report didn't give the public much, but, then again, that was not its intent. Michael Jackson's autopsy report was a simple disclosure of what the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office could concretely say within the ongoing investigation into the death of pop idol Michael Jackson without revealing details that were only grounded in supposition or part of the investigation that the LAPD wanted to remain confidential.

The L. A. Coroner's Office, after a three-hour procedure, issued a statement to the public Friday that revealed that Michael Jackson's autopsy results showed no signs of outside trauma to the star's body, nor was there any real evidence of foul play. However, since the Coroner's Office was aware that Michael Jackson was taking prescription medication, toxicology tests were ordered, therefore deferring the cause of death until those test results return, which could take as long as four to six weeks.

Meaning that Michael Jackson's autopsy results aren't final...

But speculation about the drugs that Michael Jackson may have been using have become rampant. Giving some momentum to rumors that his death may have been drug related was the sudden disappearance of Dr. Conrad Murray from Michael Jackson's residence. He was in attendance when the 911 call was made that brought paramedics to Michael Jackson's Holmby Hills home in Los Angeles to attempt to revive him. He was not there, however, when the paramedics arrived.

In fact, Dr. Conrad Murray left so quickly, he left his vehicle parked just outside of Michael Jackson's residence. Police impounded the car and are searching it to ascertain if it might contain evidence pointing toward the singer's death.

Los Angeles Deputy Police Chief Charlie Beck told the Los Angeles Times that they have been in touch with Dr. Conrad Murray and have set up an interview with him. He has been fully cooperative.

So why leave so suddenly?

Many people close to Michael Jackson believe he was heavily dependent on prescription medication. The fact that Conrad Murray was there in the middle of the day Thursday may have been due to Jackson's dependence. Drugs such as Demerol, vicodin, and Oxycontin have been suggested as drugs that may have contributed to Jackson's sudden and untimely death.

More than enough reason for a doctor to absent himself suddenly from a death scene, although his manner of leaving -- without his vehicle -- also raised questions. Some believe he panicked and ran.

But panicking and running does not make one guilty of some type of negligent homicide, which has been the common speculative scenario proffered thus far. But it does look suspicious...

And a toxicology report in the Michael Jackson autopsy results that show dangerous levels of prescribed medicine in Michael Jackson's system could prove extremely problematic for Dr. Conrad Murray. He will at least have some explaining to do...

Brian Oxman, a former lawyer for the Jackson family who was present at the hospital Thursday when Michael Jackson died, told CNN that he had warned the family about Michael's need for medication. "I talked to this family about it, I warned them -- I said that Michael is overmedicating and that I did not want to see this kind of a case develop."

Oxman did not, however, make any allegations as to what actually caused his friend's death.

Michael Jackson was unresponsive by the time paramedics rushed him to the hospital on Thursday afternoon and was pronounced dead at 2:26 PST (5:26 EST). A 911 call had summoned them to the pop star's house in Holmby Hills. The caller told the dispatcher that a 50-year-old man was not breathing and that his doctor was performing CPR on him on his bed.

Michael Jackson was planning on a final world tour when he died.
