Michael Jackson Birthday Tributes Led by Spike Lee Birthday Party
Out of all the Michael Jackson birthday tributes, Spike Lee is holding the biggest one - so big that they had to move the location. Tomorrow, Lee is celebrating what would have been Jackson's 51'st birthday with a free get-together for all of the King of Pop's fans.
The Michael Jackson birthday party was originally going to be held at Fort Green Park in Brooklyn, but too many people are scheduled to come. Therefore, Lee had to move his bash to the larger Nethermead meadow in Prospect Park, to fit the likely 10,000 attendees for the celebration.
Spike Lee is hosting this birthday tribute 13 years after directing both versions of Jackson's "They Don't Care About Us" video. Along with Lee, the birthday party will be attended by Brooklyn borough president Marty Markowitz, who will declare August 29'th Michael Jackson Day, and the Rev. Al Sharpton, who delivered a memorable eulogy at the Jackson funeral over a month ago.
The Michael Jackson birthday celebration will take place from noon to 5 p.m. Eastern Time, as Lee promised a "Brooklyn-style" party. Naturally, more than a few Jackson hits will likely provide the soundtrack for the block party.
In addition to Lee's gathering, BET will mark this special Michael Jackson birthday with a whole weekend of Jackson specials and videos, just like they did after Jackson's death.
The Michael Jackson birthday tributes come during another eventful week, as the stories about his death have still not gone away. The recent ruling that Jackson died from a homicide have opened up new questions about how Dr. Conrad Murray treated him before his death. In addition, Jackson conspiracy theorists got fired up when they found a new video that claimed Jackson is still alive, and snuck out after being driven to the coroner's office.
In any case, the mourning, tributes and controversy around Michael Jackson are still a long way away from dying off. For this weekend, however, the mourning and tributes get to overshadow the controversy again.

Rest in peace MJ you were and always will be the best performer that has lived. I hope your children and family have peace one day. Jehovah is good and I do beleive in the resurrection to come hope to be there when it happens. A man of your magnitude must return.
I am still in mourning over Michaels death. I cannot believe he is gone. Thank you Spike for giving the real fans of Michael a chance to share the love with others on his birthday. Michael Jackson Day for me will forever be a day I celebrate Michael, but to continue his legacy by loving my neighbor and giving back to the world.

Happy Birthday to you Michael Jackson. There was a great beauty and gentility in Michael's soul. His talents far surpassed those of his contemporaries and he yearned deeply to make the world a better place. I am saddened that the emotional pain he lived with prevented him from finding the meaning and connectedness which he longed for. Such a huge loss.
