The announcement is expected to come Thursday, and it will be delivered at a news conference by Michael Jackson himself. Jackson's last performance in Britain was at the 2006 World Music Awards. The musician has not held any live performances in the United States in many years.
The O2, London arena, is expected to be the location of Jackson's comeback concerts. Michael Jackson's new conference on Thursday is expected to be held at The O2 as well.
Michael Jackson's comeback has been speculated by the media for years now. Even though his personal and financial troubles were looming, the fans still wanted to see the eccentric musician perform live. After all, Jackson's enormous fame came partly from his electric live performances and the ability to draw mass crowds to his sold-out concerts around the world.
It is unclear if Michael Jackson will hold any concerts in the US at this time. Jackson has expressed a desire to live outside of the US for some time, including living in Bahrain and London for periods of time. Jackson's financial troubles and plethora of civil lawsuits could be a cause of his desire to live overseas. In 2007, Jackson faced foreclosure of his beloved Neverland Ranch. The ranch was later sold by Michael Jackson to an undisclosed buyer.
In 2005, Jackson left Neverland Ranch, after he was found not guilty of child molestation charges.
In anticipation of the positive Michael Jackson news, as well as his highly anticipated comeback, the official MJ website michaeljackson.com received a face lift. The official Jackson website does not have news or announcements on the comeback concerts just yet, but we expect the new look to be part of the concert celebration.
