Michael Jackson, Dead at 50

Michael Jackson was found in Holmby Hills today, unconcious without a pulse, according to TMZ.com. Despite efforts for over an hour to revive him, nothing could be done. He was pronounced dead today, June 25, 2009.

Many loved him in his life, and it's almost hard to believe that he is actually gone. I personally remember him best from the Thriller era. I can't even begin to count how many times I watch that eerily frightening, yet so entertaining video with the zombies dancing. I lost interest in Michael as I became older. Becoming aware of all the strange things that he was accused of made it hard to think of him the same.

Back in the days of the Jackson 5, no one could dispute the fact that little Michael Jackson had some serious talent. At such a young age, he commanded the stage with his unbelievable vocal skills and stage presence beyond his years. I always think of "ABC, it's easy as 123..... ABC, 123, baby you and me!"

My uncle works in the entertainment business and actually worked on one of Michael Jackson's music videos many years ago. I remember my uncle telling me that he was surprised at how shy, reserved, and soft spoken Michael seemed in person. He was very quiet, a little awkward, and kept to himself. I can't imagine what it was like growing up in the spotlight as Michael did.

Having such a talent and trying to make the most of it is apparently a hard task sometimes. Michael maybe was not very comfortable with himself unless he was on the stage performing. That is where he truly thrived and blossomed. He was an incredible performer, there's no doubt about that.

Yes, it is shocking to hear that Michael Jackson has passed away. He will be missed, and no one can deny the amazing talents that he possesed. Regardless of my overall opinion of who Michael Jackson became, I have to say that we have lost an icon. Michael Jackson was the King of Pop, and this world will never see his equal.
