Michael Jackson Dying from Lung Disease? Or is it Just Another Publicity Stunt?

Michael Jackson is allegedly dying from a potentially fatal genetic disease that is affecting his lungs. This is what Michael Jackson's biographer is claiming -- that the pop-star is waging in the fight of his life against a genetic disease that has left him nearly blind and in need of a lung transplant. Among the other afflictions that biographer Halperin claims he is suffering from are emphysema and chronic gastrointestinal bleeding. So from the sounds of this announcement, it could look bad for Michael Jackson in the near future.

Looking at it from a purely subjective point-of-view, this is bad news for Michael Jackson, and something which wouldn't be wished on anyone. However, if this announcement, that has been watered down as it makes its way through the media, is at all true could be called in to question. It wouldn't be the first time that something has been placed in the press that was false about Michael Jackson, and was intended to bring either harm or fame to the maligned pop-star. Jackson has received his share of bad press along the way, a lot of it brought on by himself, and has been also known to plant stories in the media to make he look better as well. Many involved in the celebrity world feel that his marriage to Lisa-Marie Presley was staged just for the benefit of the public, and that there have been many other instances where public perception was manipulated through press releases such as this one.

It is an accepted fact that the self-appointed "King of Pop" has been a very successful music artist, and one of the big hit-makers ever. The thing that has always worked against Jackson is the way his personal life tends to make it into the tabloids and newspapers in a negative fashion, a lot of the time due to mistakes he has made in the public eye. While the condition that people are claiming Jackson has is definitely something to not poke fun at, it certainly brings the question to the fore-front of everyone's mind as to whether or not there is any fact behind the story. It's good press to say that the pop icon might be dying, but until facts are presented from a publicist or Michael Jackson himself, it may be best to take this latest story with a grain of salt.
