Michael Jackson Dying Stops Jackson Jokes for Now
The late night shows will have to be very careful if they want to mention Michael Jackson dying in their monologues. They could joke about whatever happens in the aftermath, but jokes about Michael Jackson himself may finally be off limits.
Since about the mid 1980's, Michael Jackson jokes became a powerful force in the world of comedy. His skin, his molestation controversies, his Neverland and Peter Pan fixation, his pet monkey, his wardrobe, his infamous child dangling incident, and countless more Jackson ordeals have been comedy gold for performers.
By the end, any time Michael Jackson was mentioned, it was in the context of a joke that got old about 15 years ago. With Jackson about to go on a comeback tour and get back into the news, that would have probably brought on more old Jackson jokes as well.
However, one can't make jokes about someone dying. Even if that someone is Michael Jackson. But comedians certainly have a lot more to joke about instead, and many more old running gags about celebrities to beat into the ground.
After a while, it'll probably be safe to make jokes about Michael Jackson again, or at whatever insanity comes up after his death. A few people remarked that they thought Jackson faked his death at first, a la the old Elvis conspiracy theories, before the news hit home.
Even if that theory can be joked about, the old routines about Jackson and his skin, him and kids, and the like are probably retired for good now. That may be the only mercy killing in the whole ordeal, considering just how old and routine those jokes are.
Already, the death has made no less than Sasha Baron Cohen back off Jackson jokes. Universal Studios now has to cut a scene from Cohen's upcoming Bruno where "Bruno" interviews LaToya Jackson and steals her cell phone to get Michael's number, among other crazy routines.
Jackson's various fans are likely a little happy that people can't make mean jokes about him anymore in public. Though the kind of devotion Jackson fans showed were also easy to joke about over the years, especially in the 2005 molestation trial.
Michael Jackson dying is certainly not funny, and is certainly not the way that people wanted Jackson jokes to stop. But, for the time being, that's what may happen.

Farrah Fawcett died & went to heaven. When in heaven, God asked "Being such an 'inspirational' figure to men around the world, I will give you one final wish". Farrah requested that no children be hurt ever again. God obliged. RIP MJ.

He isnt jesus... He was only human... but then changed himself horrificly via plastic surgery, nose jobs and more doesnt make him human no more... artifical life or just a inatimate object, MJ is just another mantel piece with a bad history and always used as a example of a fool or a peaodiphile. What kind of sick people would make jokes about anyone dying. A mother and father have lost her son, three children have lost their father, brother, sisters have lost their brother AND a the world has lost one of the greatest entertainers that ever lived. Only God can judge NOT CREEPS LIKE YOU!!!!
