Michael Jackson Funeral Plans: How to Get a Ticket to His Memorial at Staples Center

The funeral and memorial services for pop star Michael Jackson has been scheduled. Following several speculation as to when and where Jackson would be memorialized, the family spokesman Ken Sunshine and Tim Leiweke, president and CEO of AEG, the promoter responsible for Jackson's comeback tour, announced today in a live news conference that the King of Pop will be likely laid to rest at Forest Lawn Mortuary and Cemetery in Hollywood Hills. This will be a private funeral open only to family members and some close friends.

After the private funeral, a public memorial is to follow in downtown Los Angeles at the Staples Center, home of the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers. Big screens will be set and the adjacent Nokia Theater across from the Staples Center will also be used.

Fans are warned by city officials not to show up in the area unless you are one of the lucky 17,500 people to get tickets that the Jackson family is donating for the event. Beginning now until 6PM tomorrow July 4^th, the public, US residents only, can go online to www.staples.com to register to get free tickets. After 6PM tomorrow, the program will randomly select 8,750 tickets; each winner will receive 2 tickets and two wristbands. The winners will be notified via e-mail on Sunday, and will be told which Ticketmaster to go to pick up the tickets and wristbands on Monday.

The memorial will be held on Tuesday beginning at 10:00 AM.
