Tickets for Pop Icon's Funeral
Plans for the singer's funeral have been finalized, and it's taking place at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles. A simulcast of the memorial will be displayed inside the adjacent Nokia Theatre. However, the event's organizers, AEG Live, says that only a "imited number" of free tickets will be made available for Michael Jackson fans to attend in either the arena or the theatre.
It's no surprise that demand for those tickets have been overwhelming, so an online lottery has been set in place. First, you'll have to go to this Web site to sign up and register for the tickets.
"The following procedures have been set to accommodate registration for the tickets," AEG Live maintained. "Please note that by registering for tickets to attend the Public Memorial Service, it does NOT guarantee the registrant tickets."
With that said, there is a short window of opportunity to register for the tickets. It begins at 10:00am Pacific Standard Time on Friday, July 3 and ends at 6:00pm on Saturday, July 4.
On the site, you'll need to enter your information, including your email address, first and last name, zip code, and birth date. You have a chance of receiving two tickets that will be randomly distributed to either the public memorial service at Staples Center or the live television broadcast at Nokia Theatre.
Once you click submit, you'll receive the message that your registration for your chance to attend has been received.
According to the site, "If your application is successful, you will receive an email on Sunday, July 5, 2009 after 11:00 a.m. Pacific Time with your exclusive unique code and instructions on how to obtain your two free tickets to attend the Public Memorial Service."
To enter Staples or Nokia on Tuesday, July 7, a valid ticket will be required. If selected, your ticket code and instructions will be sent to you from the email address info@staplescenter.com.
