Michael Jackson: The Music Will Never Really Be Silenced

At 2:30 am, after hours of playing music videos
and sharing stories
it all abruptly stopped.
The television stations packed up all the mementos
stifled the commentary
and silenced the music.

And life went back to normal
as though nothing had ever happened
as though it did not really matter all that much

But the world will not forget so easily
and the world may never be quite the same
we will carry on in the same way that we always do
when tragedy strikes
but the music will never really be silenced;
it will just continue to play on in the background.
