Michael Jackson: Police Search Found Marijuana -- is He Now the 'King of Pot'?
Police Found Two Bags of Marijuana -- Why Hasn't This Been Brought Up Before?
Like Dr. Conrad Murray. Not to get stereotypical, but, mon, Dr. Conrad Murray is from the islands, where the ganja is partaken... partook... smoked with regularity. But Conrad Murray has far more to worry about than if they find out he's Michael Jackson's marijuana connection as well.
Dr. Conrad Murray wasn't having a good day the day Michael Jackson died. And it hasn't gotten any better for him since. Perhaps if he had had more to say at the UCLA Medical Center to authorities before he disappeared. Perhaps if he had not refused to sign the death certificate. Perhaps, when he did sit down with the police, if he hadn't gone into so much detail.
He had the right to remain silent...
This writer was born in 1963, so I saw the heyday of the hippies through the eyes of a child and an adolescent and a young adult. I grew my hair long, longer than some of my friends, shorter than others. And although many of my friends embraced the drug scene, from the casual recreational usage to the party hardy, I never indulged (truly; ask my friends -- after they come down). It just wasn't my bag, man.
But I get the escapist approach. I just took several different avenues. I read science fiction while buddies saw aliens on trips they took without moving. I watched suspense thrillers while my compatriots were huddled and paranoid at ever little sound and knock on the door after partaking of some especially "good s**t." And we all became couch potato stereotypes of a growing 'slacker' generation.
I can hear the potheads discussing this situation:
"Yeah, man, but Michael Jackson ain't no Lynyrd Skynyrd, man. He needed some guitars in his music..."
"But, dude, that Eddie Van Halen riff was cool..."
'Yeah... yeah. You know what? He shoulda done that song by Bob Marley, man. You know... uh... "Legalize It"!! Yeah, that would've been cool..."
"Bob Marley didn't sing "Legalize It." Are you high or something? " Both chortle at the inside joke. "Peter Tosh sung it, man..."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, I'm sure..."
"Hmmm. You're probably right. Man, did you see that blog he did on "People of WalMart"? That was too funny, man..."
"That was Daniel Tosh..."
"Daniel Tosh? Man, I don't know... Well, maybe... Hey, man, you got any Cocao Puffs?"
So cops found marijuana at Michael Jackson's house. So what? Although it is illegal to have in one's possession a certain amount of marijuana, it has been legal in the state of California to obtain certain prescribed amounts of marijuana for medicinal purposes since 1996 under the Compassionate Use Act. It has been two months since Michael Jackson died and, since this is the first the public is hearing about the find, it is doubtful if it is relevant.
But you know the potheads are now doing that slow-motion high five that they do while laughing. And somebody's breaking into his best Tommy Chong voice and saying, "Cool, man, Michael Jackson, the King of Pot... Wow, man, that's so cool... now where's my Pink Floyd album...?"
