MICHAEL JACKSON REIGNS, LEADS TOP 10 SEARCHES for 2009!

SB
The sudden death of music legend Michael Jackson tops the overall web searches for the year 2009, beating Twilight (both the book and the movie), WWE, Megan Fox, Britney Spears, Naruto, American Idol, Kim Kardashian, NASCAR and Runescape.

In the annual lists separately compiled and released yesterday to the Associated Press, by the two biggest search engine, namely Google Inc. and Yahoo Inc., MJ topped them all.

Even with the Microsoft's Bing and AOL, Jackson also landed in the No. 1 slot.

Yahoo was so stunned with MJ beating Britney Spears for the first time in four years.

"Michael Jackson's death broke many records on Yahoo. His memorial was the single most streamed event in Yahoo's history, with five million total streams," Yahoo said in a statement.

As the late King of Pop leads all of Google's searches, Facebook took the No.2 slot, followed by its Spanish counterpart, Tuenti at No.3, Twitter at No.4, Turkish website Sanalika at No.5, New Moon, the vampire movie at No.6, New York born singer Lady Gaga at No.7, Windows 7 at No.8, dantri.com at No.9 and torpedo gratis at No.10.

MJ died June 25 and since then, he dominated not just the news but, the airwaves and billboard charts with stunning records of sales, and now the record-breaking internet traffic of web giants, Google and Yahoo.

Michael Jackson as number one is fine but the rest of the top 10 doesn't say much for internet searchers. I'm sure next year Michael Jackson will be replaced by some reality tv "star" that has no business being famous.
