Michael Jackson's Doctor Charged with Involuntary Manslaughter

Conrad Murray and His "sleep Aid"

His name is Dr. Conrad Murray. He was a cardiologist with offices in Houston, Texas and Las Vegas, Nevada. Eight months ago Michael Jackson died suddenly from a cardiac arrest. It was determined that Dr. Murray had been providing Michael with an anesthetic which was seen as a major reason for his death.

In interviews I saw Michael saying he was in a lot of pain (perhaps from so much cosmetic surgery?) and that pain resulted in his getting propopofal, which is an anesthetic usually used in surgery. Michael, 50, was using it to get to sleep. There were other drugs he was taking as well.

Let's face it - when Michael Jackson wanted something, Michael Jackson got it. Dr. Murray (well I guess we can drop the Dr.) was paid $150,000 a month to be Michael's doctor.

After Michael's death the police found drugs and other evidence in Mr Murray's clinic and storage unit. Still I doubt the doctor or many of us ever believed he would be convicted of anything. How wrong we were.

Michael's cause of death was ruled as acute propofol intoxiation combined with other sedatives. He was found unconscious on June 25, 2009.

Mr. Murray who is 57, insisted that he had given Michael Jackson nothing that should have caused his death. Well why should we believe a doctor who is given a patient (famous or not) an anesthetic to sleep? (I do think that Dwight Freeley was given something like that in order to play in yesterday's Superbowl!)

Whether Mr. Murray, who if I remember correctly, could not immediately be found, was to be handcuffed and arrested or surrender on his own was a point of discussion.

So the "milk" Michael took before bed did kill him. Funny that on the night he died Murry, left the room. I do wonder if he often left the room right after his cocktail was given to perhaps the most famous singer ever.

Murray met Michael in Las Vegas but had never been a "doctor to the stars" before.

Murray had never been in trouble with the law and never had a lawsuit filed against him by a patient. However, he was in somewhat of a mess with unpaid taxes and being the father of at least seven kids with six different women. Now that is crazy! His youngest child will be one in March. Murray's lawsuits have come from not paying child support and from people to whom he owed money.

This isn't the end of the story but today, January 8, 2010, Murray was charged with involuntary manslaughter for giving Jackson the anesthetic that has been determined to be the reason for Jackson's death.

How does someone like Murray sleep at night?
