Released shortly after his death in 2009, This Is It captured Michael Jackson's final moments, preparing for what would have been his final concert tour. This Is It chronicled some of his best songs and choreography expanding his musical career. Viewers were able to see a glimpse of Michael Jackson as a performer, choreographer, director, and a beloved friend while he prepared for his tour.

Across movie theaters Nationwide, audiences stomped their feet, clapped their hands, and sang along while Jackson practiced his songs on stage during the documentary. The documentary showcased a list of songs Jackson was set to play on his European tour, which expanded from his days with The Jackson 5 to his latter solo years. Jackson gave audiences a rare acapella performance of his popular ballad "Human Nature". Underneath dimmed lights, cameras captured Jackson up-close as he sang the lyrics to this emotional song. On the live practice of "I Just Can't Stop Loving You", Jackson duets with one of his backup singers while he guides her on the direction of the song. Jackson never forgot his family during the rehearsal, as he performed his popular Jackson 5 hits "I'll Be There" and "I Want You Back". Jackson couldn't forget the ground roots of where he started, and wanted to give audiences a way to remember important moments that helped shape the rest of his life.

Driven by his love of dance and music, Michael Jackson felt it was very important to hold special roles in the making of the tour including choreography and directing. From handpicking dancers to overseeing production on background videos for his upcoming tour, Jackson showcased his professionalism and intelligence as he proved he was the World's Top Musical and Entertaining Artist of All Time. Jackson watched front-view as dancers auditioned for a chance to be part of this one-of-a-lifetime chance to be a back-up dancer for his European tour. From behind-the-scenes to on-stage practices, Jackson was there with the dancers teaching the many dances in which he had became famous for. If timing wasn't right on a song or a movement, Jackson quickly directed the crew to start the piece again so the movements and timing would be perfect. If Michael Jackson wasn't practicing at the arena, he was behind-the-scenes directing different videos which would be implemented in the background, while he was performing live on stage. As dancers were remade into spooky characters for the live tour version of "Thriller", Michael Jackson was on-hand to make sure the cameras captured the characters in their scary form while recording the short scene. Jackson also was on-hand to watch as the little girl walked through the forest, falling asleep, and waking to find the forest being destroyed, which was videotaped for the video sequence of "Earth Song". Throughout the documentary, Jackson showed a behind-the-scenes look of a man who people never got to see, the intellectual performer and business professional.

Despite the hard work and stress of preparing for his upcoming European concert, Jackson still managed to keep an up-beat profile throughout the practice sessions. He was always laughing and talking with the director and musicians, while still maintaining the professional side. This Is It helped showcase Michael Jackson's hard work, dedication, and persona both on and off-stage.
