Michael Jackson's Will Filed
A 2002 Michael Jackson Will was Filed in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Spelling Out the King of Pop's Wishes
The biggest denotation in Michael Jackson's will, is that he places his entire estate in the Michael Jackson Family Trust, which will end up being dispersed at a later date. The Michael Jackson will also officially states that it wasn't a mistake that Debbie Rowe was left out of the will, as it reads, "I have intentionally omitted to provide for my former wife, Deborah Rowe Jackson." A number of decisions had been postponed until the Michael Jackson will was filed, and now that it has, some decisions can be made by the courts, including who will get guardianship of Michael Jackson's kids.
In his will, Michael Jackson stated that he wanted custody of his three children to go to his mother Katherine Jackson. If she was no longer living, Michael had nominated Diana Ross to become their guardian. It is a bit of an odd revelation, about Diana Ross, but they had a long friendship, and he must have looked up to her as sort of a mother-figure over the years. The executors of the Michael Jackson will were named to be attorney John Branca, attorney Barry Siegel, and a music industry executive and longtime Jackson friend named John McClain. They will serve in the role that Joe Jackson had assumed would be his when he thought that there was no will in the process.
Katherine Jackson has already been awarded temporary custody of the three Michael Jackson kids, and it looks like she will retain the guardianship if she so wishes. As Michael Jackson's music continues to sell well, and royalties continue to come into his trust in waves, it looks like Michael Jackson's kids will be well cared for by a loving grandmother and a trust fund that is sure to support them for the rest of their lives. More details about the Michael Jackson will, and how it will be enforced are sure to come from the Los Angeles County Superior Court soon, but it looks like a very well drafted will that could make things very easy for the executors.

Post a CommentI wonder why he left his former wife out of the will?
thank god there is a will and now that can be put to rest.
I wrote a quick article on this today as well. I was surprised that the will ws so short.
Most people do not realize that Executors are paid... and in this case, it could turn out to be a large sum of money. Should a later will turn up, I'm sure they file it. I wonder, though, if another one may exist. 7 years seems like a long time to not update it to me, particularly for the rich and famous. I would have thought he would have updated his will after the problems in 2005 when he was accused of child molestation. Vindicated or not, I would have thought he would revisit his will just to be sure that the maximum amount of his assets were out of reach should further suits arise.
